ANT-MAN Trailer has been Classified

0

The first trailer for Marvel’s upcoming ANT-MAN film has been classified by the Alberta Film Classification board. This means, they have SEEN a trailer for the film and have deemed it appropriate.

The information from the website shows that the first ANT-MAN trailer is rated “PG” and will run for a total of 1:48. To be classified so soon means that they’ll start promoting the film earlier than later. Will we see it Thursday before Disney’s Into the Woods? Probably not, thats way too soon.

My guess is that in 2 weeks, during the 2 hour premiere of AGENT CARTER on ABC, we’ll get that trailer. It’ll be a good way to have people tune in for the show, plus entice them to stay for 2 full hours. Originally, I think the AGE OF ULTRON trailer was supposed to help the show, but now this could definitely boost some ratings.

Are you ready for ANT-MAN’s big (little) screen debut? With all the news surrounding the film, I can say that I’m interested in what they have to offer.

Games with Gold – January 2015

0

Welcome to 2015! Not yet, but Microsoft is getting you ready for the new year at least. Their Games with Gold promotion for XBOX Live Gold subscribers has been pretty awesome this year, but the choices for January are kind of…odd. Of the 3 games, I’ve only heard of The Witcher 2 and it for Xbox 360 (mine gets no love anymore). My assumption is with the Halo Master Chief Collection giving everyone problems and the freebies from that probably costing quite bit, they went a little light on us.

Here’s next month’s Games with Gold!

Xbox One

D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die

A time traveling detective has to solve his wife’s murder before he can prevent it. Use his supernatural ability to “dive” into the world of the living past by touching artifacts called “mementos” to find out the truth behind his wife’s death.

ComicUI – Best Artwork 2014

0

Continuing our end of 2014 countdown, we come to our favorite artwork of the year! This can be posters, comic books, an artist in particular, so on and so forth. For this, again, Brian and I agreed with each other, but came to separate conclusions on who should take the top spot of the year.

Come back later this week as we give you the Worst Artwork of the year and you can compare. If you think we missed someone great who’s work stood above the rest, you let us know!

Brian – Ryan Stegman, artist for “Inhuman”

Inhuman

Ryan Stegman more then established himself in 2013 with his work on Superior Spider-man and the short lived Wolverine series. Recently helped launch Marvel’s new series Inhuman, written by Charles Soule. Stegman’s art style is both smooth and extremely detail oriented, making his artwork sleek, powerful, and easy to identify. With Marvel’s recent announcement of an Inhumans movie can only hope Stegman continues to make this series shine for ya.

Chris – Avengers v5 #25-27

“These connected variant covers are a continuation of Avengers v5 #1-3 from Dustin Weaver. I was able to get my hands on all 3 variants and it definitely shows how cool some variants can be, not just something to chase. A second runner up would also be Avengers #30-34 (non-variants), which had all 6 infinity gems and different versions of the Avengers as they jumped through time. Its definitely a beautiful finished product.” Below, you’ll find the Dustin Weaver version of Avengers V5 #1-3 and his variants for #25-27 combined.

ComicUI Exclusive: DAREDEVIL Costume Update from the Set

2

We have reached out to our source in New York and received some more detailed information regarding the DAREDEVIL costume. Our source, who we’re gonna call Jack (in honor of Battlin’ Jack Murdock, but is NOT the character involved in the description), gave us a detailed breakdown of a scene and the suit. The sad part of most movie sets is that the crew usually doesn’t have much comic book knowledge, just film skills and knowhow. Due to that, we couldn’t get to the exact outfit, but the following description gives us a GREAT idea.

daredevil_swThe scene in question starts with the Kingpin ordering his goons to shoot daredevil, and at the last minute Daredevil grabs a pipe on the ground and throws it, knocking the gun out of his hand. The suit Daredevil was wearing is black with red and looked like a latex scuba suit. He also confirmed it also having red lines down it as highlights as well.

The crew member who witnessed this scene filming was asked to compare it to the already revealed outfit and confirmed it was NOT the same one. So he definitely gets another ‘suit’. Judging by this description, we looked into several Daredevil versions from the years. The closest one we found is the costume used in Marvel’s 2004 series Secret War. In there, “Daredevil adopted a stealthy red and black outfit to distance himself from the original identity”. This evolution from ninja outfit to stealth suit seems pretty logical, and the Secret War evolution is most logical, to keep silent and stealthy.

Below, we’ve included the Secret War alternate costume for Marvel Heroes and an image from the Secret War series as well for you to take a look at. After reading this description AND looking into it, we’ve decided that this is what we speculate the final costume will be for the series. The other popular option includes the Armored variant, but that doesn’t seem to fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe too well. Also, the variant he wears in Shadowland is making rounds as well. Judging from our source on set, we’re still thinking Secret War.

Are you ready to see what outfit Marvel delivers in 2015 for DAREDEVIL when it premiers on Netflix? Perhaps you have a better idea of what it could look like, let us know!

New Images of Charlie Cox in DAREDEVIL

0

The upcoming issue of EW has a section covering Marvel and Netflix’s DAREDEVIL series that is due to land in May 2015. In it, two images of Charlie Cox appear, one in his Daredevil garb (that we’ve already seen) and another as Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer.

Its worth noting, the outfit that Cox is wearing as Daredevil does NOT match the final suit that we’ve been told about. Our source in New York is getting us more information on that as we type, so expect more details over the holidays. Again, these are nothing too revealing, but maybe the full Entertainment Weekly article will have more for us to sift through.

Who is ready for DAREDEVIL to return next year?

ComicUI’s Worst Comic Book Series of 2014

0

Since we’ve unveiled our favorite comic book series of this year, we’ve decided to flip that coin over and give you our worst! The following results shocked us, because we’re both fans of the universe they exist in, but are sad to see it gone astray.

Read ComicUI’s Best Comic Book Series of 2014 before you proceed, although…there aren’t any spoilers below. Oh well. What was your least favorite series this year?

Brian – All New Ultimates

all new ultimates 2014 worst comic series marvel
All-New Ultimates

Mark Millar’s “Ultimates” are arguably what got me back into comics after childhood. Showing a reinvention of my favorite characters in a more cinematic and adult light was really ground breaking at the time, and I think anyone who has watched Marvel Studio’s movies will agree that a lot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was pulled from the early years of the Ultimate Universe. That being said, All New Ultimates is embarrassing. Right down to the name. Marvel launched their All New Marvel NOW earlier this year and understandably we’ve seen a lot of tittles with “The All New…” prefix, but I challenge you to find one of those series that doesn’t take place in the main 616 universe. Now, in the aftermath of Cataclysm, when Marvel should be advertising their Ultimate Universe a having SURVIVED the Cataclysm, they hit us with this all new series that feels straight out of 616. This may seem like a small detail, but everything else about this series is even worse. The writer isn’t horrible, but as far as I can tell the author is new to Marvel. The artwork is par for Marvel, which again feels sad for the Ultimate Universe as early Ultimates issues had an almost photorealistic style to them. The series is also much more focused around teens and teen problems, making it seem petty compared to early Ultimates problems like Ant Man and Wasp’s domestic violence issues, or Thor seriously questioning his sanity in Ultimates 2. At this point I really can’t wait for 2015’s “Ultimate End”. R.I.P. Ultimate U 2000-2014 :’-(.

Chris – Cataclysm/AXIS

“I agree that Ultimate Comics has really diminished in quality after Cataclysm. It was another Ultimatum, where a bunch of characters are killed off, series are ended, and a mild ‘reboot’ was started. This was a damn shame, since Ultimate Comics – Ultimates was the finest series for several years. Starting with Jonathan Hickman (fav writer right now) and ending with Joshua Fialkov (so good!), it was upended by a stupid Galactus crossover that only served to give us ‘false’ deaths and a lack of actual fun. As Brian put it, they essentially executed the universe in one fell swoop. The Galactus Cataclysm was caused by the White Event in Age of Ultron comic series, another one I detest vehemently. Boo! (Addendum: Avengers & X-Men: AXIS is shaping up to be a very close tie to this series, but we have a few issues left to go.)

ComicUI’s Best Comic Series of 2014

1

Until the end of the year, Brian and myself will be sharing our favorites and least favorites from 2014. We’ve thought long and hard about the things we loved and didn’t love, so we’ll be providing some insight into our lives as well as giving you something you can look forward to.

First up, we have our Best Comic Series of 2014. This is something that started in 2014, but not necessarily finished. Check out our selections below! Click on the images if you’re interested in joining in.

Brian – Moon Knight

moon knight 1 warren ellis marvel
Moon Knight #1

In 2014, “the one you see coming”, was the series you never saw coming. Flying pretty far under the radar, Warren Ellis kicked off an all new Moon Knight series in 2014, which he capped off after only six issues. The series was immediately picked up by Brian Wood, and while they’ve both done pretty different things, they’ve both made it a wild rise of a series in just one year. What made this series so unique is nearly every issue is standalone. Regardless of your exposure to Moon Knight, this series does a great job skipping past the exposition and delivering you action right out of the gate. Moon Knight #5 is actually such a powerful and self contained comic that I argue it might be one of the best comic book issues Marvel has released in years.

Chris – Original Sin

“Yes, this is an event series, but none-the-less, it surprised me. As each issue progressed, I had no idea what would happen in this murder-mystery for “Who shot the Watcher.” Will it hold up over time? I’m not sure, but it was the most surprising series for me in 2014.”

LEGO Avengers: Age of Ultron Sets Revealed

0

I’ve always wanted LEGO Avengers sets. I have the video game, twice, so why don’t I own any sets in real life? Probably because I’m a cheap ass when it comes to LEGOs. I’ve seen some good sets from my friends Marshall and Brad (who writes for FirstShowing.net) and it makes me jealous.

The latest leaked image shows off the AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON LEGO sets coming out next year. Its in German, but thankfully we got a translation of each section and it contains MILD SPOILERS for the movie. Are you ready? Good.

Featuring the Iron Man vs. Ultron (Iron Man MK 43, Ultron Officer, and 2 Ultron Soldier), Duel with Hydra (Hydra Henchman, Hawkeye, Thor), Hulkbuster Rescue Mission (Hulk, Ultron Prime, Scarlet Witch, and Iron Man MK 43), The Avengers Quinjet Chase (Captain America, Vision, Black Widow, Ultimate Ultron, and Iron Man MK 43), Attack on Avengers Tower ( Iron Man MK 43, Thor, 2 Iron Legion Drones, Ultron), and Burglary in the Hydra Fortress (Quicksilver, Hydra Henchman, Baron Von Strucker, Hulk, and Captain America) sets.

From here, we can tell that the burglary in the Hydra fortress will be stealing Loki’s sceptre back, the Hulk needs rescued by the Hulkbuster armor, and Ultron bots come in Ultimate versions, soldiers, officers, and iron legions. Thats a lot going on and I can’t wait to buy these versions. The Hulk is also a darker green too.

We’ll be looking into this more as LEGO unveils more catalog material and possibly seeing what else they can give us. Who’s buying these LEGO sets next summer?

Superhero Logo Evolutions

0

We’ve all seen the evolution of superhero emblems. Hell, even we’ve posted on for Wolverine last year. Now, with BATMAN V SUPERMAN coming in 2016 and Spider-Man always being popular (Sony and Marvel are in talks for him to join their cinematic universe), someone decided to put all of their known emblems/logos into a gif.

Batman begins in 1941 and goes up through the 2016 logo for BvS, Superman starts in 1938 and includes the Man of Steel ‘S’ on his chest, and lastly, Spider-Man (late bloomer) goes from 1961 through this year’s Amazing Spider-Man 2 symbol. Take a look as each logo blends into the next and serves as a journey through time.

All credit goes to Eric Snapper, a Florida based content creator, and here’s hoping he does more! Perhaps we’ll see all of Iron Man’s armors soon.
