Latino Review is hot on point this week. After first breaking that Marvel had cast Daredevil, they are not saying that Josh Brolin (Men In Black 3; No Country for Old Men) will be lending his voice to GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY as none other than Thanos himself. First seen at the end of Avengers, Thanos has always been alluded to be the main villain behind the assumed Avengers trilogy. With the infinity stones being mentioned in Thor: The Dark World, we knew that Guardians of the Galaxy had to have some larger Thanos input than any other movie.
Since the movie is in post-production, don’t expect the actor to be Thanos in the film a la green screen/cgi. We assume this is his voice only and will be added over the actual footage.
If you’ve read the Guardian’s prequel comic, you’ll know that Thanos raised both Nebula (Karen Gillen) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana) to be assassins. We know he’ll make an appearance in the upcoming Marvel film (but not the extent), but we now know he’ll be speaking. With several other huge names attached to the cast, Josh Brolin would only make it another.
We can only assume at this point he’ll also be the character in the inevitable Avengers 3 film when it happens.
Do you think Jonah Hex is the right man to portray the Mad Titan on screen?
UPDATE: The Wrap has confirmed Latino Review’s scoop, and echoed Variety’s note that Josh Brolin will also appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron next year. However, despite the many characters already in Joss Whedon’s upcoming Avengers sequel, The Wrap adds that Thanos “will have a more prominent role” in that film than he does in Guardians of the Galaxy.Â
