After months of speculation, we now have a definitive title for the upcoming MAN OF STEEL sequel. WB has announced it will be called BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. Although the V kind of seems peculiar, Dawn of Justice is a pretty good ring, which of course will lead to that confirmed Justice League movie in 2017 or so. They have also released the official logo, below.
DAWN OF JUSTICE stars Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck with Zack Snyder directing. Pic also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning from “Man of Steel,” Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter.
The film is written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing.
The first gameplay trailer for the upcoming video game, BATMAN: ARKHAM KNIGHT has released. Just like Batman says in it, this game is evening the odds. You get a taste of the satisfying combat mechanics that were first introduced in Arkham Asylum and the brand new batmobile! It can drive on walls and ceilings, definitely making the game get more vertical.
We also get a peek at a few villains, the Arkham Knight in particular, Two Face, and a few more. What secrets do you see in the trailer that get you excited for the last game in the Arkham Trilogy?
Sadly, Batman: Arkham Knight will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 14. If the reduced price on the Xbox One wasn’t enough to entice you, maybe this game will.
This coming Fall, the first Disney and Marvel animated collaboration will be hitting cinemas. Titled BIG HERO 6, it will follow 14-year-old teenage prodigy Hiro Hamada and his group of robots. We have the first teaser for the full trailer that will arrive tomorrow and a new poster!
This seems like an animated film that may even rival Pixar’s latest releases. The animated film is scheduled for release on November 7, 2014. What do you think?

For Spider-man fans it’s a good time to be alive. In 2014 alone Spider-man has already had over a dozen comic series centered around him, Marvel has an event focusing on Spider-man releasing in November entitled “Spider-verse”. He’s swung from the pages of comics to the big screen, his animated series, “Ultimate Spider-man” will be starting it’s third season this year, and, last week he made his debut in the world of Infinite Comics with “Amazing Spider-man: Who Am I?”, written by Joshua Hale Fialkov, and Dan Slott. Order is quickly restoring in the world of the web head, as the highly acclaimed, and even more highly controversial, “Superior Spider-man”, series, came to an end in April. Regardless of your feelings on “Superior Spider-man”, Peter Parker is back in control of his body and last week “Amazing Spider-man #1”, hit stands and fans everywhere rejoiced to see their hero back in action, and back to being “amazing”.
Speaking of amazing, “Amazing Spider-man 2”, debuted last week, featuring Andrew Garfield’s return to his role as Peter Parker. ComicUI was definitely ‘amazed’ by the quality of the movie, and you can read our thoughts on the film here:
In April ComicUI invaded the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2), and got to meet rockstar writer Joshua Hale Fialkov, writer of Ultimate Comics Ultimates, and the new Ultimate FF series. Fialkov is a self proclaimed dark writer, so hearing he was penning an Amazing Spider-man Infinite Comic was quite shocking, and made me a little scared for Spidey’s safety. During Marvel’s House of Ideas panel, Fialkov described the premise of “Amazing Spider-man: Who Am I?”, as “an answer to the question, ‘Who is Spider-man without his memories?”. Similar to Marvel’s other Infinite Comics, “Amazing Spider-man: Who Am I?” will be released as 12 digital comics available through the Marvel digital store for $2.99 each. However, this time Marvel is testing a new distribution schedule for the series. As opposed to one issue every week on New Comic Book Day, Marvel is releasing four issues of the series at once, followed by four more issues one month from now. This means it’ll still take 12 weeks to read all of “Amazing Spider-man: Who Am I?”, however each week it’s released readers will get a much larger dose of content. Personally I am on the fence about this new distribution schedule, and I’m not happy about dropping $12.00 in one week on one series, but I have to admit compared to the beginning of “Wolverine: Japan’s Most Wanted”, or “Daredevil: Road Warrior”, I feel infinitely more gripped by the opening week of “Amazing Spider-man: Who Am I?”.
“The Amazing Spider-man: Who Am I?”, released issues #1-4 simultaneously on May 7th
As far as the story goes, “Amazing Spider-man: Who Am I?”, picks up with Spider-man appearing to regain consciousness in the midst of a bank robbery, only this time, Spider-man is one of the robbers. He’s not sure who he is, or why he’s dressed in a skin tight, brightly colored costume, but his crew of criminals are more then willing to fill him in on what to do next. The first issue is nothing short of shocking. Ending on a note so surprising, that making readers wait a week to find out what happens next would have been downright cruel.
While the writing is phenomenal in these first four issues, the art feels like a bit of a step backwards for Marvel’s Infinite Comics. So far Marvel’s Infinite Comics have given us clean sharp artwork that challenges readers to find a device with a sharp enough display to match the artwork. In “Amazing Spider-man: Who Am I?” The coloring is beautiful, and the pacing works really well for both digital story telling, and for a character who relies as heavily on internal narration as Spider-man. However, the line work feels so rushed, sloppy, thick it almost distracts from the beauty of the issues. Artist Juan Bobillo clearly knows his stuff, Spider-man can be seen swinging and contorting into all sorts of cool poses throughout the first four issues. He even managing to convey a surprising amount of emotion through Spider-man despite rarely removing his mask but I cannot understand why he chose to ink the comic the way he did. It’s a very stylized approach to Spider-man, but it comes across more childish and sloppy then I was hoping a Spider-man Infinite Comic would be. Color artist Andres Mossa really does save the day though. From the lush colors of New York to the dark criminal underworld, Mossa’s work glows beautifully and in my opinion really is what artistically holds this series together.
Despite Marvel’s new distribution schedule and an artistic style that I can’t fully get behind, I whole heartedly recommend “Amazing Spider-man: Who Am I?” to any Spider-man fans or fans of Digital Comics. With both Joshua Hale Fialkov and Dan Slott working together the story feels unlike anything I’ve ever read but somehow still holds true to feeling like a Spider-man comic. With these two working together there’s no telling where they’ll take the web head next, and for better or worse, I guarantee that next month they’ll have some jaw dropping moments for us.
Normally, we rarely cover video games here at ComicUI. Its not our focus, but still a huge part of who we are. It should come to no surprise to anyone who knows us that when any game in the Halo franchise is announced, we’re excited. It definitely is part of who I am and what makes me tick.
This morning, Bonnie Ross, 343 Studio’s General Manager announced HALO 5: GUARDIANS for Xbox One coming in 2015. In the announcement on a blog post, Ross goes on to talk about the future of Halo and how this 5th entry in the Master Chief storyline is a large step forward from Halo 4.
“Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4. That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.”
Halo 5 will run “at 60 frames per second, on dedicated servers, with the scope, features and scale we’ve been dreaming of for more than a decade,” and will also be running on a brand new game engine (duh, its the Xbox One). We normally expect these announcements to be made at E3 this coming June, however, with the recent permanent price drop of the Xbox One, its no surprise they’d hit us with a second punch in the form of Halo.

The newest trailer for the fourth entry in the Transformers franchise, AGE OF EXTINCTION, has landed and given us everything we expect from this film. There are gun shots, explosions, debris, and most importantly, fire breathing robot dragons. I know Michael Bay and the Transformers movies get a ton of flak, but I could really care less about what everyone else says. If I want to see robots smash around on each other for 2 hours, these are the movies I watch.
The newest trailers gives us a look at Grimlock in dinosaur form as he gets into the city and appears to be part of a new ‘army’ Optimus is gathering to take down the inevitable Decepticon attacks. Needless to say, dinobots were the correct way to go.

Alright, you caught me. That was a pretty awful title, but the news is pretty sweet. Staring June 9, Microsoft has decided to release a Kinect-less version of the Xbox One, also reducing the system’s price permanently to $399 without one. This brings the price point into direct competition with the PS4, which has been kicking its ass in the markets. The Xbox One hasn’t failed by any means, but they’ve come to realize that consumers don’t necessarily need or want a Kinect included in every system.
Since last summer’s huge turnaround, Microsoft has been playing catchup to appease consumers and this is a HUGE step in the right direction. This comes from the company listening to what their users want and they’re constantly delivering on the goods. Don’t think Microsoft is giving up on the Kinect, by any means, just they’re given us consumers options and choices when it comes to our gaming consoles.
I personally didn’t get a Kinect for my Xbox 360 until this past December. It has been fun, but used very sparingly around the apartment. With the Xbone now coming in at $399a and Kinect free, I find myself rethinking joining the current gen consoles. As an avid Halo fan, this could be the tipping point that gets an Xbone into my living room. The Kinect will be sold as a stand-alone accessory later as well, under the $100 price point that differentiates the two Xbox One retail versions.
Along with this news, Microsoft is removing the XBOX Live Gold Subscriber limitations to use streaming services, such as Netflix and Hulu. This has been a huge mess for people who buy the gaming console and choose not to use their online services, but also want to use their pre-paid services such as Netflix, HBO Go, and more. It was requiring two separate payments, and thats just stupid. This will be available for both the Xbox One and the aging Xbox 360 console as well, so legacy gamers (such as myself) no longer have to worry about that Gold payment once a year. (Truthfully, I’ll still pay it.)

If you’ve not heard, ABC has officially picked up AGENT CARTER as a TV series to debut this fall. Starring Haley Atwell as the titular Peggy Carter (Captain America, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Marvel’s One-Shot: Agent Carter), we’ll see the character in the 1940s during SHIELD’s initial creation. This can lead to many opportunities for the Howling Commandos and a young Howard Stark to return to screen, without having them come back in a movie flashback.
Now, ABC has confirmed how Agent Carter will fit in with Marvel’s AGENTS OF SHIELD this fall, as both are going to be on the network. Anyone familiar with Agents of SHIELD knows that the show would go about three weeks straight with episodes, then pause for a few more weeks, causing frustration and forgetfulness of the show’s airtime’s. As an avid watcher, even keeping up with the schedule was a pain beyond belief.
Instead, we’re going to get the first half of Agents of SHIELD (presumably the first 11 episodes) straight in a row. Once the show pauses for its midpoint, Agent Carter will begin airing. This will act as a filler for the main series, while also giving Agent Carter a smaller run of episodes, which we feel will be around 13 or less. Once those 13 episodes are run in a row, the second half of SHIELD will premier and run straight into the AVENGERS 2: AGE OF ULTRON.
This gives us two awesome benefits for Marvel’s television series. The first benefit is the potential of 35 straight weeks of Marvel episodes on TV. That is 22 episodes of SHIELD and 13 of Agent Carter. Thats 2/3 of a year that we can get our Marvel Universe fix and not have any waiting, except for the summer. This common schedule will also help viewers return the same time every week without reruns and possibly even discovering an awesome new character, Peggy Carter.
The second issue that is resolved, is that of Agent Carter’s shorter runtime. Instead of asking for 22 episodes set in the 1940’s, increasing production costs and potential slow runs (look at you first half of SHIELD), this can be tighter and more focused each episode. This is the same format that Marvel is taking with their Defenders series on Netflix, 13 episodes acting like a small movie. I’m all on board for this format and look forward to this fall when it all comes back to us.
God. Damnit. Nothing is sure to ruin my day faster than anything involving Channing Tatum. Now they want to cast him as one of the few more iconic mutants in the X-Men roster? It is a sad day everywhere. I wasn’t even this disappointed when they announced the Batfleck.
As of right now, X-MEN movie franchise producer Lauren Shuler Donner has confirmed via TotalFilm, that Channing Tatum will be Gambit in the next X-Men movie, APOCALYPSE. We’ve known that the sequel to DAYS OF FUTURE PAST would in fact be focused on Apocalypse, one of the greatest threats to Mutantkind. Gambit was even one of his horsemen (of the Apocalypse, get it?) becoming Death, so it isn’t a stretch to assume he was going to be in the movie.
The second piece of information gleaned from this interview, is that Gambit will be getting a solo film afterwards. Could this be the mystery 2018 Fox Comic Book movie they’ve teased? Most people are hoping for an X-Force film that could lead to seeing a much improved version of Deadpool in theaters. Gambit: The Movie was the last thing on anyone’s mind a week ago, but now it seems they’ve already cast for a film that has no script. Crazier things have happened, I suppose.
