Batman and Batmobile Revealed

Hot off the heels of yesterday’s news, the new Batman and Batmobile have finally been revealed by Zack Snyder. Posted to Twitter, Snyder stated “I shot this with my @Leica_Camera M Monochrom. #Batman #Batmobile #Gotham” and honestly, its a pretty awesome picture. I can’t wait to see how they use it in BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN in 2016.

What do you guys think of the new Batman outfit? It seems more cloth material and almost aged, but its a drastic change from the kevlar versions we’re used to. Thats also a large bat on his chest.

As for the Batmobile, it looks tumbler-esque from the Nolan films, but until we get the whole bit, who knows? Maybe Batman can be fun again. Check it out!

New Batmobile to be Unveiled Tomorrow

Zack Snyder, director of such comic book based films such as The Watchmen and Man of Steel, has taken to Twitter to tease a huge piece of his upcoming film. Supposedly tomorrow, we will get our first look at the brand new Batmobile design in the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman film!

As of right now, the teaser image is of the Batmobile under a tarp and Snyder is teasing to pull it off for a full unveil tomorrow.

What do you think, is this Batmobile going to be true to the material or more like the Nolan trilogy?  You tell us!

DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Holograms

Apparently since Tupac was brought back as a hologram, they’re all the rage. Now, Fox has released several prominent X-Men in hologram form on instagram. These aren’t the cool ones that you control, but rather short images of their hologram versions.

These are also the future mutants, so perhaps this is the records the Sentinels keep on file of everyone? Not sure, but here they are!


 

Bumblebee and Optimus Prime in TRANSFORMERS 4 Images

The oft disliked Transformers film franchise is getting a 4th installment later this year and a few images from it now show off Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. They both appear to be weaponized versions of the Autobots and looking to probably defend Earth from another deception invasion of sorts. Either way, an ominous ship looms in the background, probably foreshadowing something dark and devious.

ComicUI at Motor City ComicCon

Last month, ComicUI went to C2E2, the premier convention for our site and one of our favorites yet. This coming week, we have the privilege of attending MOTOR CITY COMIC CON. This is the third year I’ve been to the MCCC, however, it is the first representing ComicUI. It was at this convention that I first learned to appreciate artists and get into comics. It was also the first time I ever received a sunburn at a comic themed event as well. (The lines last year were over a mile long and the parking just as crazy, per Stan Lee’s appearance.)

As we prepare for MCCC, I want to share the featured guest list with you, as well as the the official synopsis of the weekend. With it being their 25th Anniversary of the event, they seem to be pulling no strings on the guest list either, from media to the comic industry.

The biggest draws are William Shatner (Star Trek) and John Barrowman (Arrow, Torchwood). Mark Ruffalo Hulking out for AGE OF ULTRON

We’ve seen several images from the production of the Avengers sequel, AGE OF ULTRON, but no one has given us a look behind the scenes more than Mark Ruffalo. Just look at his Instagram account! From images with Robert Downey Jr. labeled as Science-Bros to ScarJo in her Black Widow robe and even a selfie with the Joss himself, Ruffalo seems really excited to be back on set as the Green Goliath.

Since most of the Hulk is done with CGI, they use Ruffalo’s face as the basis for his looks. This allows the Hulk and Bruce Banner to look and feel like the same person. With all the behind the scenes photos on Instagram, it lets us see the work that goes into transforming Mark Ruffalo into the Hulk. Have a peek at the CG process for that role below!

ABC Renews AGENTS OF SHIELD and Adds AGENT CARTER

Good news, True Believers! ABC has finally announced that Marvel’s AGENTS OF SHIELD will be getting a second season! After the show lost a lot of viewers from the slow buildup in the first half of the season, many were worried of the shows fate. However, SHIELD never dropped to catastrophic levels and drastically improved in quality. We’re one episode away from Season 1 finishing (next Tuesday at 8 PM EST), so we can sleep easy knowing the show will be returning this fall.

My guess is season 2 will be full of Coulson’s team (the remnants of the now defunct SHIELD) chasing down the villains released from The Raft by Bill Paxton’s Garrett. If you have any ideas or theories where the series might go (Avengers 2, anyone?), let us know because the wait is going to be way too long.

Next up, the biggest surprise of the night came when ABC also announced they have picked up Marvel’s AGENT CARTER as a TV show. You may remember the Agent Carter One-Shot that came along with Iron Man 3, which placed Haley Atwell (Captain America) in the 1940’s as a Government agent and treated pretty poorly by the men of that time. If not, watch it below! She then proceeded to take a secret mission to hunt down The Zodiac and kick some major ass along the way. Tony Stark’s father, Howard, then called her to have her head up the fledging SHIELD with him, so this series will take place after that fact.

With the recent throwbacks to the Howling Commandos in Agents of SHIELD and how the organization failed, it will be interesting when they’ll go back to the 40s and show us how SHIELD began and what those old-timey gadgets actually did. For those concerned, Haley Atwell WILL return and star in the show as her younger self.

ABC has provided the following log line of the show and we think it sounds like a must-see this fall. Are you excited for Marvel’s Cinematic Universe to take over your television as well?

Twitter Reactions from DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

The first reactions from a lucky few who have seen X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST have now appeared on Twitter. Unlike the recently released Amazing Spider-Man 2, these reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. The viewers have even gone so far as to praise their interpretation of Quicksilver, even after all the fuss over his design.

UPDATE: First Trailer for Fox’s GOTHAM Series

UPDATE: As soon as we posted this, DC released a full 2 minute version of the trailer with even MORE Penguin. Check it out!

Today it was was announced that Fox would be picking up their Batman-prequel series, GOTHAM. They’ve ordered a season of it and the first trailer premiered tonight during 24: Live Another Day. It lets us see our favorite future police commissioner, Jim Gordon, and the plethora of young villains running wild in the city. They include the Penguin, Catwoman, Riddler, and Poison Ivy. If anything looks watchable from DC, this might be what grabs my attention.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2: A ComicUI Review

Less than 2 years after the Sony rebooted the Spider-Man franchise with The Amazing Spider-Man, they’ve released a sequel that fails to capture the magic that the titular character has been known for. From drastic tonality changes from scene to scene, shallow villains, and a true lack of Spider-Man in the movie, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 left me feeling bored within the first 10 minutes and failed to bring any of the characters into relevance. In the words of Gwen Stacey, Spider-Man, “I break up with you.”

The strongest parts of the movie were when Peter Parker was searching for himself and his family’s legacy, and that can be attested to the believable acting between Andrew Garfield and Sally Fields. It also becomes troublesome as the movie isn’t called Peter Parker: The Amazing Spider-Man and without seeing the web-slinger on screen for a long stretch of the movie, it diminishes the times when he does appear. Emma Stone also brings some great chemistry to the screen, as I could entirely believe the Peter/Gwen relationship and their struggles post high-school, mores than the Peter/MJ troubles of the original trilogy.

My biggest worry before seeing the film would be the apparent villain bloat, with the Rhino, Electro, and Green Goblin seen in the trailers. However, I wouldn’t say that bloat affected their appearance, but their shallowness that made them hard to swallow. The Rhino is the absolute worst in the film, and only served as the bookends to the film. Despite his ability to transform into the character, Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon and Electro comes off as weird and hard to sympathize with across the film’s entirety. Lastly, I truly wanted Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborne to be successful on the film, but his unfounded arrogance and single tracked mindedness fell flat.

I cannot argue that Marc Webb has crafted one of the most visually appealing films in the franchise. From the terrifying creation introduction of the blue Electro, the Green Goblin’s grotesque transformation, and Spider-Man’s traversing the city, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 delivers a visual spectacle that we’ve never seen. The newest iteration of Spider-Man’s spider sense was under utilized, but definitely worth the price of admission.

And that part. You know, the one thats going to happen. It is handled with more care than any other part of the movie and that makes it one of the best parts of the film.

If you’re a Spider-Man fan, then you may find more to enjoy in the movie than I have, but the blatant flaws and lack of consistent pacing left me hungry for more substance and effectively removed any affection I had with the character.  By the end of the film, I found myself not caring about the fate of the characters, nor if there was going to be the (inevitable) third entry in the series. Despite the stellar performances by Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, and Sally Fields, the underwhelming dialog and storyline ultimately negate all their good work. This relegates the film to eye candy instead of carrying the gravity needed. If you’re looking for something on par with this year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier or even surpasses the original Amazing Spider-Man, you’ll be left disappointed.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 fails to be amazing, but gives us a goo Peter Parker movie instead. Horrible tonality changes and shallow villains leave the film wanting, unable to be saved from the impressive visuals and terrific acting.
