Is there trouble for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN? Sony has released a new schedule for the film franchise, moving The Amazing Spider-Man 3 back to 2018 and giving us SINISTER SIX in 2016 instead. The Spider-Man spinoff will be written and directed by Drew Goddard (Daredevil [Netflix], Cabin in the Woods) and is apparently looking good enough to be released in 2 years.

“With Sinister Six in the hands of writer-director Drew Goddard, we feel extremely confident placing the film on a prime date in 2016,” said Sony president Doug Belgrad in a statement. This may be in part that THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 was the lowest grossing Spider-Man film, and one of the most divisive amongst critics. You probably know where we stand on the film (and if you haven’t, read it here), so maybe spending 4 years before releasing another direct sequel will give us some time to forget what happened this summer.

Let us know if you’re ready for Sony to enter the superhero villain team up realm with the Sinister Six!
