Earlier this week, we got more word out of the most obscure of Marvel’s Phase 2 movies, Guardians of the Galaxy, with the cast now including Michael Rooker of Walking Dead fame. Known most recently for playing Merle on the Walking Dead, Michael Rooker has regularly worked with James Gunn, director, on his previous movies Slither and Super. The most peculiar part of this casting, is that Rooker will be playing Yondu Udonta, a Centauri-IV inhabitant from the 31st century who also happens to be a member of the original (1970’s) Guardians of the Galaxy, who is not the main part of the film. This movie will focus on the 21st Century group featuring Star-Lord, Drax, Gamorra, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot. Since story details are sparse on the film as of now, we can only speculate how these characters will meet and interact.
UPDATE: Wanna see Michael Rooker with a mohawk already? James Gunn posted a video on Vine already. WARNING: Spoilers are ahead for those who have not seen the Season 3 Finale of the Walking Dead. **Watch here at your own risk**
