STAUNCH AMBITION PRESS RELEASE

Staunch Ambition is a science fiction graphic novel that asks what happens when human innovation enters the supernatural. Welcome to the new enlightenment!

After a class X solar flare hits Earth dead center, all of modern technology becomes paralyzed and leads to the dismantling of social stability. Using this as an opportunity to wage war, several nations plot and scheme toward complete domination. While the nations rage, a coalition forms to restore and rebuild what progress humanity lost.

As peace and balance are significantly restored. Certain nations unite, working together, in an attempt to avoid another devastating cosmic tsunami. The support for this movement grew with such intensity it became the nucleus of a multi-trillion dollar business called “Staunch Industries” where advanced technology has granted access not only beyond the imagination, but into the imagination. With this revelation, humanity can explore the realm of thoughts, memories, ideas, and emotions in ways only once dreamed of. The layers to this new reality become much deeper than first thought.

Azarus, who has no parents, is a product of the latest advancements in genetic engineering, a newly made work clone with a mixture of human and animal DNA.   In order to keep the work clones isolated and easier to control they are created with a very limited self-consciousness and the lack of sexual organs. As Azarus becomes self-aware, he begins to question.

“What is my purpose?”

“Am I male, female?”

“Am I human?”

“Do I have free will or am I just a machine?”

While in the midst of his own confusion he will go through another transformation thrusting upon him the purpose for all of humanity.

Rielle, one of the lead supervisors of STAunch’s space station, the “ambiTION”, is forced to unearth the true reason behind their success. During her venture she will discover the reason she was adopted. Where are her mother and father? Does she even have real parents? Or was she just cooked up in some laboratory?

You can be among the 1st to get on board the staunch station. @StaunchAmbition is a Supernatural Science Fiction graphic novel. Imagine if you had this chance to be one of the 1st to follow @StarWars or Firefly. And we (Brian E Lau, John McNicol, Tyler Thull) are working EXTREMELY hard to provide a solid quality book. Rumored AGE OF ULTRON Story Spoilers

0

It has been a slow week or two, folks. With nearly every comic book TV shows starting this month, we’ve not really had a lot of comic book movie news. If you’re not watching Gotham, Flash, Arrow, iZombie, Constantine, or Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD you’re probably doing better than we are, but also curious as to what movie news do we have.

To fill your insatiable palate, we’ve compiled the biggest list of potential spoilers from Marvel’s next film, AVENGERS 2: AGE OF ULTRON. These are in NO way confirmed to be part of the movie, but once you start drawing some connections…they seem mostly right.

I would like to take this moment to warn you now that if these do turn out to be true, there are SPOILERS below. You know the risk by proceeding.

If you have any ideas or theories for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, leave them in the comments below and we’ll see who is right come May 1, 2015.

SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON BELOW

  • Movie begins with the Avengers taking down a HYDRA offshoot led by Baron Strucker with the Twins.
  • Stark creates Ultron to assess potential threats. He goes rogue and determines that the human race needs to be destroyed.
  • Black Widow is struggling to adapt to a modern life and has feelings for Banner. Captain America gets a brief moment with Maria Hill.
  • Ultron recruits the Twins to help him. Hawkeye reaches out to them and talks about his past as a carnie. Ultron mocks him for being an insect among gods and not relevant to any of their fights.
  • Stark and Banner have a falling-out because Stark created counter-measures against the Hulk without telling him, and used his neural patterns on Ultron even after Banner told him not to. Banner ends up getting infected with a biological agent created by Ultron that prevents him from Hulking out, and has to find a cure, sacrificing the one thing he always wanted to help his friends.
  • Captain America and Thor visit a still naked and still deranged Dr. Erik Selvig to find out more about Vibranium.
  • Andy Serkis is Phineas Horton.
  • The Vision is J.A.R.V.I.S. reprogrammed by Ultron to act as a weapon against the Avengers. He is modeled after Stark’s childhood butler Edwin Jarvis, and Tony manages to reach him.
  • Ultron kills an entire country. That’s when Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Vision realize he’s too dangerous.
  • Claudia Kim is a South Korean friend of Stark’s whose company has developed technology Ultron needs for his upgrading process.
  • Ultron disables all Starktech, including the War Machine armor, taking Rhodes out of commission. He still helps the Avengers as a soldier, and there’s also an appearance of USAF Captain Carol Danvers, she leads a squad of F-16s in an assault against Ultron, but her face is never seen.
  • Ultron is catty and calls Stark “father”.
  • In the final battle, the Hulk battles the Hulkbuster.
  • Nick Fury confers with the Avengers in the beginning and later coordinates them during the final battle with Ultron and the Iron Legion.
  • Hawkeye fires an arrow at Ultron from an exploding Quinjet filled with drones, sacrificing himself to hit him with an USB arrow that uploads a virus created by Stark into Ultron’s system. Captain America wields Thor’s hammer and destroys Ultron’s enhanced body. Ultron tries to jump to other robotic bodies, but Quicksilver destroys them one by one in a matter of seconds, and Ultron ends up trapped in an old Iron Man armor, which is promptly destroyed.
  • Captain America’s broken shield is a dream when Scarlet Witch is checking out the most likely outcome of the final battle.
  • The Vision and Scarlet Witch have some moments. Quicksilver is a hothead and fiercely protective of her. There’s some weird undertones, and Stark makes a “Game of Thrones” joke about it.
  • Captain America is still searching for Bucky.
  • In the end, the Avengers create a Avengers Academy to train human soldiers to protect the planet as their support. Falcon and War Machine show up to audition.
  • Captain America is visited by Phil Coulson and Agent Tripplet, who tell him SHIELD is back, off-grid and off-books. Coulson still respects Cap and gives him a new lead on Bucky’s whereabouts, showing grainiy security footage of Bucky at a train station in Portland.
  • There’s a flashback to 1945 where Steve, Peggy Carter, Howard Stark and Jarvis, played by Paul Bettany, meet Phineas Horton, who talks with them about robotics and the potential of neural pattern mapping to program automatons, planting the seed to Ultron.
  • Thor says “Ultron, we would have words with you” indeed.
  • Stark blames himself for Ultron’s crimes, and Rogers gives him a pep talk, even echoing the “genius, billionaire, playboy, philantrophist” line.

Games with Gold: October 2014

0

You know the drill by now. Another month is coming up and with it, Microsoft and XBOX are giving away more games for Gold Subscribers!

October is bringing one new game to the XBOX One and 2 (amazing) games to the 360, which add up to some mighty fine deals. My recommendation as always, is to purchase the games through Xbox.com or your console, regardless if you’re going to play them or not. FREE IS FREE, folks. Example, I ‘purchase’ all the free Xbone games even though I currently don’t own one. Will I eventually? You bet your sweet ass, so those freebies will pay off when that console is unboxed.

Got it? Get the free games. Now here’s the list for October 2014! As usual, click the title to be taken to the game’s Xbox page for purchase/review.

XBOX 360

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (October 1-15) – $19.99 ERP Metacritic 88

Battlefield: Bad Company 2, brings the award-winning Battlefield gameplay to the forefront of Xbox 360 console with best-in-class vehicular combat and unexpected “Battlefield moments.” Vehicles like the ATV and a transport helicopter allow for all-new multiplayer tactics on the Battlefield. You can compete in four-player teams in two squad-only game modes, fighting together to unlock exclusive awards and achievements. Battles are set across expansive maps, each with a different tactical focus. The game also sees the return of the B Company squad in a more mature single-player campaign.

Darksiders II (October 16-31) – $39.99 ERP Metacritic 83

Darksiders II, which continues the series’ emphasis on huge environments, exploration, and a deep and rewarding story. Combine that with fantastic voice acting, impressive visuals, and a huge variety of procedurally generated loot (not to mention character-building options), and you’ll quickly find yourself enraptured by Darksiders II’s depth and top-notch game design. Did we mention you get to play as Death himself? Yeah.

XBOX One

Chariot (All month) – $14.99 ERP Metacritic (Unreleased)

Chariot, the newest ID@Xbox game from Canadian developers Frima, is a couch co-op platformer that can be played alone or with a friend. Players take the role of the brave Princess or her faithful Fiancé as they maneuver the departed king’s coffin-on-wheels through 25 levels set in five vibrant underground environments, with his majesty’s ghost giving them a piece of his mind every step of the way. Filled to the brim with emergent physics-based gameplay, Chariot offers hours of exciting exploration, fast-paced ride sequences and mountains upon mountains of loot!

Rumor: Release Date & Covers for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

0

We’ve not really had enough to say about GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (sarcasm) but now we’re picking up steam again. Since the movie has been in theaters nearly 2 months and remained number 1 for the majority of those weeks, the next local question is “When can I watch a bunch of a-holes on my home TV?”

The answer is sooner than later! Anyone who has been a good boy or girl this year (not it) can supposedly pick up their copy of Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY on December 9th, 2014 according Amazon. This could be a placeholder date, but I find Amazon to rarely be wrong.

Even though Marvel has yet to make an official announcement, Amazon has made the film available for pre-order in three editions: a standard one-disc 2D Blu-raya two-disc 3D Blu-ray combo, and a one-disc DVD. The film is also expected to arrive on a Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook, similar to Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Thor: The Dark World.

Below, you can find the sleeve and packaging art for the movie, which we reviewed as one of Marvel’s best yet. Will you be putting the Guardians on your X-mas list this year or is that wait too long?

First Look at MOCKINGBIRD from AGENTS OF SHIELD

0

We knew that Mockinbird was coming to Marvel’s AGENTS OF SHIELD this season. We just didn’t know how they’d bring her into the fold, as the studio likes to use characters in unique, unexpected ways. Now we have our first look and description of Adrianne Palicki as Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird for Season 2 of SHIELD.

Adrianne Palicki as Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird

The description for the character marks her as the “head of HYDRA security.” Uh oh. Does that mean she’s going to be a bad guy gone good or will she be just a bad guy? Hopefully its not another Victoria Hand situation where things end badly just as they’re getting good.

Mockingbird will make her official appearance on AGENTS OF SHIELD during the October 21 episode called “A Hen in the Wolfhouse” and may be reappearing afterwards.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Gets Singer

0

In what could have been a disastrous year for X-Men: Days of Future Past helmer Bryan Singer, things are starting to look like business as usual. It has been confirmed that he will be returning for the sequel to this year’s X-Men outing, APOCALYPSE set for release in May 2016. This is only appropriate seeing the post-credits scene of DofP does set up this sequel in a vague and mysterious way.

Along with this (unsurprising) news, comes confirmation from screenwriter Simon Kinberg that this film will focus on mutants in the 1980’s. First Class was set in the 1960’s, Days of Future Past set up the 1970’s, so jumping forward another 10 years seems only appropriate.

We should expect to see familiar faces return, such as Professor X (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), and series staple Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). On top of these characters, we should expect a reintroduction to Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm. These will be the younger versions of the mutants that we met in the original X-Men trilogy, so recasting will be necessary.

Are you excited for the mutants to come back in 2016 after Days of Future Past rectified some Fox’s previous errors? Or have we had enough of them already?

Marvel’s AGENTS OF SHIELD Season 2 Starts Tomorrow!

0

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to television this Tuesday in case you’ve not seen the massive advertising campaign from ABC, Disney, and Marvel. Since the first season has released on blu-ray and DVD a few weeks ago, you can be sure I’ve been obsessing over all the details.

As many of you know, season 1 was Marvel’s first foray into live action TV series and an attempt to tie a show into their Cinematic Universe (Avengers films and so forth). It was a rocky start with a slow build and near lackluster characters caused many viewers to drop off. However, after the sporadic airing schedule evened out and the show tied into CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, things got much better. By the final episode, we were treated a show that was intriguing, mysterious, and had its own voice.

With season 2 starting up this week, we know the show has a lot to live up to and appears to be working hard to deliver the goods. From all the big name casting choices, such as Lucy Lawless (Battlestar Galactica), Adrianne Palicki (GI Joe 2), Adrian Pasdar (Heroes), Patton Oswalt and more, SHIELD seems to be increasing their budget to get some some more actors involved. Not only does this mean we could get some better acting, but also some darker stories. First reviews are saying the premiere episode called “Shadows” is really proving how much stronger the show has become.

Lastly, with no Marvel films releasing until May 1, 2015, the show doesn’t rely on a late season payoff again. We’re hoping there’s an AGE OF ULTRON tie-in at the end of the season, but until then the show can be what it needs to be. It also has a solid release schedule this year to make room for AGENT CARTER at the halfway point. Expect around 10-11 weeks straight of episodes followed by 8 weeks of Peggy’s adventure, then 11 more weeks ending in the Spring. We’re excited.

Enjoy the press release from Marvel and ABC below and show up at 9 PM now on Tuesday nights on ABC to catch Coulson’s SHIELD and his agents of nothing.

[alert variation=”alert-success”]

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” returns for a dynamic, action-packed second season, with newly appointed Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) – now the keeper of the secrets — charged with rebuilding and restoring government and public trust in S.H.I.E.L.D. in the wake of the events of “Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” where it was revealed evil Hydra agents had infiltrated the organization.

Ever since the existence of super heroes and aliens became public knowledge after the Battle of New York, the world has been trying to come to grips with this new reality. Agent Phil Coulson, who had died at the hands of Loki during the battle, was resuscitated and brought back into action, assembling a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division). S.H.I.E.L.D.’s mission: to protect those who cannot protect themselves from threats they cannot conceive.

But the biggest threat was growing from within, as S.H.I.E.L.D.’s old enemy, Hydra – a dangerous extremist group Captain America fought against in World War II – had secretly infiltrated and infected the organization at the highest levels. Once revealed to the public, S.H.I.E.L.D., including Coulson and his team, was discredited and made to look like the enemy. The world now views S.H.I.E.L.D. as untrustworthy, and it’s Coulson’s job to change that opinion.

After helping to thwart Hydra, Coulson was appointed as Director and tasked with rebuilding the agency. This won’t be an easy job to accomplish with the majority of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents either killed, secretly working for Hydra or free agents. Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), expert pilot, martial artist and longtime friend, will continue to look after Coulson in the wake of the mysterious etchings he’s been carving into walls. What do these etchings mean, and can Coulson be trusted? Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, was found to be a Hydra mole and a traitor to S.H.I.E.L.D. and locked up away from the world and his former teammates. But this isn’t the last we’ve seen of him… After being left to die in the middle of the ocean by Ward, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), brilliant engineer, and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), genius bio-chemist, found a way to escape their watery grave. But all did not go well for Fitz, who was left in a coma and may never regain his full cognitive functions; a devastating blow to Simmons. And computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet), now a full-fledged S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, discovered her origins as a 0-8-4 — an object of unknown origin – and that her parents were considered “monsters.” Could Skye have darkness lying dormant inside of her? Also joining Coulson’s core team is Lance Hunter (Nick Blood), a dashing mercenary sharp shooter with a quick wit. Since he didn’t rise up through the ranks, does he have an ulterior motive for helping out the team?

Who can Coulson trust?

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Grant Ward, Chloe Bennet as Skye, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons and Nick Blood as Lance Hunter.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” was co-created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, who also serve as executive producers along with Jeph Loeb and Jeffrey Bell. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television, and is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound.

FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot Delayed

0

We don’t talk much about the FANTASTIC FOUR reboot that Fox is doing, simply because the FF are the hardest sell in super hero franchises. The mid-2000s version worked because it sold to families, which is why it spawned a (lackluster) sequel. You won’t find me watching those movies willingly, but the reboot’s Thing looks pretty awesome.

Even though production is completely wrapped, Fox has moved the Fantastic Four release date from June 19th, 2015 to August 7th, 2015. That’s 6 full weeks in the other direction. Even DC moved Batman V Superman up 6 weeks, so I’m not sure what this means for the film.

All movie dates are subject to change, and perhaps after seeing how well Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY did this August, the studio in charge of FF and X-Men decided to try it out too. We’re not sure, but it doesn’t inspire confidence in the film thus far.
