Beast and Wolverine in the 70’s

0

Bryan Singer never disappoints with his twitter news. Today he posted a set picture of Nicholas Hoult and Hugh Jackman as Beast and Wolverine respectively. Through their attire, it’s obvious that this is from the 70’s but however, we can tell this is in the X-mansion and Beast is in human form. What does this tell for the story? I don’t know yet, but it seems highly intriguing.

0

Good news folks! Its time for Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo 2013, better known as C2E2. This will be my third year covering events there, but this time will be much different than the last. You will get updates almost every hour of things happening on the show floor, artist gallery, and the spotlight panels. The other half of ComicUI, Brian, will be there with me and we won’t stop till they make us leave. You folks will only be begging for more by Sunday afternoon, which will lead me to my next trip. Hint: Its in Los Angeles and might involve Tony Stark.

For quick access to our updates, use the C2E2 tab on the nav bar and follow us whenever you get a chance. You never know who or what may pop up on our adventure. Last year it was Sean Astin of Lord of the Rings fame and Anthony Daniels (C3P0), the year prior was Chris Hemsworth (the one and only Odinson, Thor) and Claudi Sanchez (Coheed & Cambria).

If you’re in the Chicago area this weekend and want to stop by the event or even want to catch up with Brian or myself, let us know in the comments. For more information please check out www.C2E2.com for the latest news on special guests and happenings.

Bryan Singer, Twitter, X-men: Days of Future Past. You’ve heard all of these things in unison the past few weeks, and its only getting more ridiculous every day. Its easier to find information out about the film through the director’s tweets than it is through IMDB anymore. Thats saying something!
Earlier today, he unveiled the inclusion of Bishop and Warpath in the cast of the upcoming film. Rumors are that Bishop, a time traveling mutant from the future, will be played by Omar Sy and Warpath will be played by Twilight’s BooBoo Stewart (Yes, thats a real name. Yes, he’s native american). Check out the Vine video below and let us know if you’re excited.

Lee Pace, currently playing Thranduil in the Hobbit films, has been cast as the villain in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film. No word yet on who he will be playing, however rumor has it he will be playing someone known as Taneleer Tivan, the Collector.

In the comics, Tivan learned about the threat Thanos posed to the universe and sought to collect life forms and worlds to place in a museum of sorts, ideally protecting them from Thanos’ path of destruction. You may recall this being a theme from the Halo games as well, with the Librarian seeking to index life for preservation.

He will be joining Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, and Ophelia Lovibond in the film directed by James Gunn and released August 1, 2014.

UPDATED: First Photos of Max Dillon and Harry Osbourne

0

Ah, spring is in the air! Warm weather, sunshine, birds all a twitter. Wait, those aren’t birds. Thats actually Marc Webb and Dane DeHaan posting new photos from the Amazing Spider-man 2 online. After last week’s on set photos of Jamie Foxx in his Electro garb, we now have an official photo of him as Max Dillon, the man before the monster. Mr. Webb tweeted the photo this morning and it doesn’t look anything like what we saw last week. As we see this nerdy Dillon, please note the yarn and string connections in the background, possibly leading someone to try and find the identity of Spider-man, leading to the creation of Electro?

As a bonus surprise, shortly after Webb tweeted the photo, actor Dane DeHaan who will be playing Harry Osbourne in the upcoming film also tweeted a photo of his character from the film. Not much is given away here, or even surprising. It could almost be any photo of Dane DeHaan getting into an SUV, but lets roll with it. Will the elder Mr. Osbourne show up in this film as well?

UPDATE: Two more photos of Foxx and DeHaan have hit the web this morning. Check out some full body shots and let us know what you think of the characters.

First Poster for Thor: The Dark World Released

Thor: The Dark World has been getting some attention this past week, most likely due to the imminent release of Iron Man 3. Once Tony Stark brings in the cash, it will be time to give Thor some thunder. Hot off the heels of the rumor that a trailer for the film will be released next week, Marvel has outed a theatrical poster for the film.

Checking out the poster at first glance, the only way you can tell this is actually a poster for Thor 2 instead of the Avengers or Thor 1, is the hair length. Other than that, it could just simply be a fan’s photoshopped version for the film. Marvel really didn’t put any time or talent into this artwork, but are rather using it as a tentpole to showcase the returning actors: Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. Its rather forgettable, hopefully its not foreboding of the film itself. However, directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) and featuring Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed, this should assure any skeptics judging by the artwork.

Take a look below and let us know your thoughts.

Rumor Mill: Thor: The Dark World Trailer to be released next week

1

Thanks to Mike Royer for this breaking news.

This just in, according to a subreddit, twitter user AgentM has reported that a trailer for Thor: The Dark World will be premiering next week. This isn’t too far out of the question as Iron Man 3 begins premiering across the globe next week as well, a good vehicle to push the lesser known franchise. However, after the sleeper hit Thor was and his presence in the Avengers, I don’t see the follow up being anything less.

Also, this news may come from a German Facebook page which may have leaked the date early. No links can confirm that at this time, however it is word on the street.

Thor: The Dark World is scheduled for release in November of this year and will be the second Marvel Studios film to have a sequel. Directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones), the film picks up after the Avengers and will be starting Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christopher Eccleston, Tom Hiddleston, and Anthony Hopkins.

Check back more as we find out newer information.

Michael Rooker cast in Guardians of the Galaxy

Earlier this week, we got more word out of the most obscure of Marvel’s Phase 2 movies, Guardians of the Galaxy, with the cast now including Michael Rooker of Walking Dead fame. Known most recently for playing Merle on the Walking Dead, Michael Rooker has regularly worked with James Gunn, director, on his previous movies Slither and Super. The most peculiar part of this casting, is that Rooker will be playing Yondu Udonta, a Centauri-IV inhabitant from the 31st century who also happens to be a member of the original (1970’s) Guardians of the Galaxy, who is not the main part of the film. This movie will focus on the 21st Century group featuring Star-Lord, Drax, Gamorra, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot. Since story details are sparse on the film as of now, we can only speculate how these characters will meet and interact.

UPDATE: Wanna see Michael Rooker with a mohawk already? James Gunn posted a video on Vine already. WARNING: Spoilers are ahead for those who have not seen the Season 3 Finale of the Walking Dead. **Watch here at your own risk**
