BLACK WIDOW Moves to November, Shifting Phase 4 Release Dates

0

The coronavirus pandemic has affected the globe on a scale unheard of before, and to ensure healthy practices and improved wellness, every theater was effectively shut down, and large tentpole releases moved around. Today, Disney has announced the upcoming changes to their slate, including an entire new look at Phase 4.

Black Widow was originally to have opened this May, is now taking over The Eternals slot at November 6, 2020. This 6 month delay is only the start of how films will be affected going forward.

The Eternals in turn will move to February 12, 2021, which in turn moves its original owner, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings to May 7, 2021. That summer was originally planned to have Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness kickstart the film season, but it has been moved to November 5, 2021. Spider-Man 3 was not affected by these dates, yet, as it is a Sony distribution.

Thor: Love and Thunder, will take a new slot completely unoccupied of February 28, 2022, which leaves Black Panther 2 in place for May 8, 2022.

On the plus side, Captain Marvel 2 has moved up to July 8, 2022, two weeks sooner than anticipated. 2022 could see the second year of four MCU films opening in theaters.

What a ride! At least Marvel and Disney will give us our MCU in true timeline, however, what this remains to mean for the Disney+ streaming shows is completely different.

WONDER WOMAN 1984 Delayed Till August

0

Another day, another delay for film releases. Warner Bros. has decided to postpone the June release of Wonder Woman to August, in hopes that the world is safer and healthier to go out in. August 14 will now be the new day for WONDER WOMAN 1984 to grace the silver screen, and while August has normally been a tepid month for box office, we may see a new schedule arise in 2020.

Wonder Woman 84 follows Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) as she goes through the 1980’s and a familiar face, once thought long dead, appears again. Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing two all-new foes: Max Lord and The Cheetah. With director Patty Jenkins back at the helm and Gal Gadot returning in the title role, “Wonder Woman 1984” is Warner Bros. Pictures’ follow up to the DC Super Hero’s first outing.

BLOODSHOT now On-Demand

0

With the increasing lockdown of social gatherings, including cinemas, it seems a lot of studios are looking to recoup lost profits by releasing movies to on-demand digital early. The most recent superhero film to take part in this is Sony’s BLOODSHOT, starring Vin Diesel, based on the Valiant comic character of the same name.

Bloodshot tells the story of Ray Garrison (Diesel), a soldier who is killed in combat, only to be reanimated with superhuman abilities. Also starring Guy Pierce, the film has been received to mild fanfare, sporting a much higher audience than critic rating on RT, but could be the best mindless indulgent action film of the year (so far).

Are you picking up Bloodshot this week on digital or waiting for a streaming service to snag it up?

Rosario Dawson cast as Ahsoka Tano in THE MANDALORIAN

The Mandalorian is filming its second season currently (we think, at least) and the latest casting report is that longtime Ahsoka Tano fan, Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) has been cast as the live action version of her.

Ahsoka Tano debuted in Star Wars: The Clone Wars in 2008 and has since made appearances in the Rebels TV show, amongst other mediums. A fan favorite for sure, she has previously been voiced by Ashley Eckstein, as recently as 2020 in Season 7 of the Clone Wars on Disney+.

Will this version of Ahsoka be fully makeup/practical effects, or also mixed with a little CGI? We’re excited to see the return of her, along with what appears to be a season long thread about the Dark Saber, the mythical black lightsaber seen at the finale of The Mandalorian.

HARLEY QUINN Season 2 Arrives in April

0

The DC Universe tries to have new content frequently and the latest show to get a second season is the beloved HARLEY QUINN show. Season 2 will air April 4, 2020 on the DC Universe streaming app, with the first season only finishing up a month or so ago.

Season 2 will find Harley with Poison Ivy and more villains across the Batman Universe, as she tries to find her place without The Joker. Likely finished the same time as Season 1, this will be a treat for those wanting to watch more content in quarantine.

BLACK WIDOW Release Delayed Indefinitely

0

More and more blockbuster, tentpole films are feeling the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic. We last reported NEW MUTANTS had received a new release date, but now Disney has officially postponed the April 24 date for Marvel’s BLACK WIDOW.

Right now, we have no idea on when it could release or if it will have a ripple effect on future films (not likely for the MCU), but it couldn’t be too far down the road.

When would you like to see Natasha Romanoff debut her first solo outing this year?

New Mutants Delayed Indefinitely (again)

0

The troubled New Mutants film from 20th Century Studios (previously Fox), is one of the latest victims of the Coronavirus outbreak across the world. This is the 4th release date changed for the film, originally planned to release in 2019. It also was moved for Dark Phoenix to take its place in 2019, and ultimately again when the Disney acquisition halted all Fox releases. This movie is the most requested film to release on streaming, and skip the theaters all together.

In this new trailer, we see some faceless creatures jumping off ceilings, Cannonball practicing his ability above a basketball court, Sunspot flame-on, and finally the money shot, Magic with her portal to Limbo and her soul-sword. Will this movie continue to elude our viewing pleasure or are we just be spared another disappointment in the already conclude Fox franchise?

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Released Early on Digital

0

Originally scheduled for release on Tuesday March 17, Disney has quietly made the latest Star Wars film available on digital platforms over the weekend. You can go ahead and purchase the controversial film on Amazon, Apple TV, Google Play, and Vudu.

This appears to be in response to the Coronavirus situation around the world and Disney is wanting to alleviate the quarantined’s cabin fever. Frozen II was also moved up 3 months on Disney+ to watch as well.

The movie will cost $20 in 1080p or $25 in 4K UHD. But if you haven’t bought into the entire Saga yet, the $100 Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga 9-Movie Collection is also available!
