First Look at THE VISION from AGE OF ULTRON

0

International promotional art has always had more characters and information than their domestic counterparts. Why? I’m not sure, but with Marvel it was true for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and now AGE OF ULTRON banners are giving us a really REALLY good look at The Vision in the film.

We’ve first seen the vision on the SDCC 14 promotional banner, but he was far away and not really easy to see. Aside from that, we know Paul Bettany is playing the character and he’ll become an Avenger somewhere in there. Needless to say, it is exciting to see The Vision get some recognition he deserves, especially with the introduction of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch.

Now if we take a look at this poster, we can see his face is modeled heavily after Iron Man’s mask, albeit different colors. It looks like he can fly and has a cape, which reminds me an awful lot of Thor. And lastly, I see some of Captain America’s outfit in him as well, mostly the boots and gauntlets he is wearing. And his color, green. Who else is green? The hulk! My theory is that he is made to destroy the big 4 avengers from Ultron, but someone gains self awareness and decides that people are worth saving (a love interesting Scarlet Witch?). We shall see!

Avengers: Age of Ultron releases May 1, 2015 and will continue the Marvel Cinematic Universe which started in 2008 with Iron Man.

Marvel’s Press Release

[alert variation=”alert-success”]

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” returns for a dynamic, action-packed second season, with newly appointed Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) – now the keeper of the secrets — charged with rebuilding and restoring government and public trust in S.H.I.E.L.D. in the wake of the events of “Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” where it was revealed evil Hydra agents had infiltrated the organization. Ever since the existence of super heroes and aliens became public knowledge after the Battle of New York, the world has been trying to come to grips with this new reality. Agent Phil Coulson, who had died at the hands of Loki during the battle, was resuscitated and brought back into action, assembling a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division). S.H.I.E.L.D.’s mission: to protect those who cannot protect themselves from threats they cannot conceive.

But the biggest threat was growing from within, as S.H.I.E.L.D.’s old enemy, Hydra – a dangerous extremist group Captain America fought against in World War II – had secretly infiltrated and infected the organization at the highest levels. Once revealed to the public, S.H.I.E.L.D., including Coulson and his team, was discredited and made to look like the enemy. The world now views S.H.I.E.L.D. as untrustworthy, and it’s Coulson’s job to change that opinion.

After helping to thwart Hydra, Coulson was appointed as Director and tasked with rebuilding the agency. This won’t be an easy job to accomplish with the majority of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents either killed, secretly working for Hydra or free agents. Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), expert pilot, martial artist and longtime friend, will continue to look after Coulson in the wake of the mysterious etchings he’s been carving into walls. What do these etchings mean, and can Coulson be trusted? Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, was found to be a Hydra mole and a traitor to S.H.I.E.L.D. and locked up away from the world and his former teammates. But this isn’t the last we’ve seen of him… After being left to die in the middle of the ocean by Ward, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), brilliant engineer, and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), genius bio-chemist, found a way to escape their watery grave. But all did not go well for Fitz, who was left in a coma and may never regain his full cognitive functions; a devastating blow to Simmons. And computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet), now a full-fledged S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, discovered her origins as a 0-8-4 — an object of unknown origin – and that her parents were considered “monsters.” Could Skye have darkness lying dormant inside of her? Also joining Coulson’s core team is Lance Hunter (Nick Blood), a dashing mercenary sharp shooter with a quick wit. Since he didn’t rise up through the ranks, does he have an ulterior motive for helping out the team?

Who can Coulson trust?

Games with Gold: September 2014

0

Another month is coming up and with it, Microsoft and XBOX are giving away more games for Gold Subscribers!

September is bringing one game to the XBOX One and 2 (amazing) games to the 360, which add up to some mighty fine deals. My recommendation as always, is to purchase the games through Xbox.com or your console, regardless if you’re going to play them or not. FREE IS FREE, folks. Example, I ‘purchase’ all the free Xbone games even though I currently don’t own one. Will I eventually? You bet your sweet ass, so those freebies will pay off when that console is unboxed.

Got it? Get the free games. Now here’s the list for September 2014! As usual, click the title to be taken to the game’s Xbox page for purchase/review.

XBOX 360

Monaco: Whats Mine is Yours (September 1-15) – Metacritic 81

Assemble a crack team of thieves and execute the perfect crime. Sneak, steal, and run for your lives in single player or with up to four friends in local or online co-op. Find out why it won the 2010 IGF Grand Prize and has been described by Rev3Games’ Anthony Carboni as “quite possible the best co-op ever.”

Halo: Reach (September 16-30) – Metacritic 91

Halo: Reach is the biggest and most ambitious Halo title yet, and this first-ever Halo demo drops you right into the action with the epic “Long Night of Solace” mission from the single player campaign. The demo also includes the competitive multiplayer map “Powerhouse” and a cooperative Firefight mission for Xbox LIVE online play! Halo: Reach is a tour de force of stunning visuals, powerful story, epic encounters, and more replayability than any Halo title to date.

(Great for anyone wanting the Prequel to the upcoming Halo: Master Chief Collection)

XBOX One

Super Time Force (All month) – Metacritic 81

Super Time Force is an action-packed platformer with a time-travelling twist! You’re in control of time itself, bending and stretching it to your advantage on the battlefield. Rewind time and choose when to jump back into the action, teaming-up with your past selves in a unique single-player co-op experience! Take control of up to 16 unique characters, and battle across 6 different time periods, from the long-ago past to the far-away future.

LEAKED: Doctor Doom in the FANTASTIC FOUR

0

We’ve seen what appears to be the new Thing from the upcoming Fox FANTASTIC FOUR reboot, but thats really it. Until today. Now we have leaked images of the new Doctor Doom, played by Toby Kebbel (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), in his full metal outfit. In these images, he appears to be battling the stand ins for the Human Torch (flying and glowing orange) and the Thing (the big muscular dude).

Since most of this appears to be CGI, its hard to tell what his final form will be in the film, but I’m excited to know more of the movie is being public. Perhaps this stands a chance to wash the taste of the last 2 Fantastic Four films from my mouth.

Are you ready for a return to the fantastic?

UPDATE: Images removed at the request of Fox Studios. Guess they WERE real after all!

RUMOR: Aaron Paul Cast as DOCTOR STRANGE?

0

We have a screenshot of a tweet from the one and only Joss Whedon from less than an hour ago where he seemingly congratulations Aaron Paul, best known for his Emmy Award Winning performance as Jesse Pinkman on AMC’s Breaking Bad show, for getting the part of the one and only sorcerer supreme, Doctor Stephen Strange.

This is not the first rumor we’ve seen about the casting of this character, but this is the closest to confirmation that we have seen, especially if it truly came from Joss himself. Whedon is the creative force behind Marvel’s movies since his huge success on The Avengers (2012) and his upcoming work on Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).

We have the image of the screenshot, as the tweet has since been deleted. Our gut instincts believe this to be true, since Paul and Breaking Bad just won big at the 2014 Emmy’s just two nights ago.

Do you think Marvel is making the right choice, bitch?

Full Cast and Synopsis for ANT-MAN Released

0

The second of Marvel’s movies for 2015 has started filming today. ANT-MAN has indeed begun the filming process and along with that, the full cast list and synopsis for the fpm has landed as well.

Not much to be noted here, except a few familiar names, Judy Greer (Archer, Arrested Development) and Michael Peña (Observe and Report; American Hustle) and the return of John Slattery (Iron Man 2), presumably returning as Tony Stark’s father. He’s not replacing Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avenger), but rather showing an older version of the character.

Enjoy the full list and synopsis below and we’ll keep posting this tiny updates as they come along.

[alert variation=”alert-success”]Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. [/alert]

Marvel Studios to get INHUMAN

0

We here at ComicUI have two favorite Marvel superheroes, the first and foremost being The Sentry. We definitely don’t expect you to know him, but remember his name. He is and will always remain our favorite character, but over time we’ve come to appreciate more characters that have existed in their character stables for decades. This brought Blackbolt and the Inhumans to our attention. Ironically, the Sentry and Inhumans were both written by Paul Jenkins and drawn by Jae Lee in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, but we found this out much later.

As of right now, rumors from Collider say that Marvel Studios is moving forward on an Inhumans movie from a script already written by Joe Robert Cole (Amber Lake, 2011). This is mind blowing news for us at ComicUI, as we never thought a cosmic concept such as the Inhumans would ever make it to the big screen. We presume this is due to the massive success GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is enjoying right now, which also set up the Kree race. The Kree are responsible for the creation of the Inhumans and are a source of conflict through the comics.

If you’re wanting to know more about Marvel’s Inhumans, you can summarize them like space mutants, so an answer to Fox’s rights on the X-Men. They currently have a motion comic available from Amazon that is adapted from the Jenkins/Lee series and if you like dogs, you’ll fall in love with Lockjaw, the space pug.

Here is the full article from Collider, breaking down what Marvel may plan to do with the Inhumans. We’ll be following this one closer than any other Marvel property to date. We hope this is one of the unannounced Marvel Studios films before 2019!

[alert variation=”alert-success”]

Guardians of the Galaxy was Marvel’s big gamble on whether or not they could sell a group of unknown characters in a unique world based on the studio’s brand alone.  They won that bet, and now it’s given Marvel the confidence to move forward on another team of mostly unknown, strange characters: The Inhumans.  As we reported back in March 2011, the studio was considering adapting the comic into a movie.  In July 2012, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told Entertainment Weekly that if either Guardians or The Inhumans became a movie, audiences could expect an “X-Men-style ensemble, a la The Avengers.”  In a broad sense, that’s true: A team of misfits and outsiders comes together to battle a larger foe; beyond that, I doubt many would compare Guardians to X-Men or The Avengers.  But for over two years, there was no word on The Inhumans.

The other day, Vin Diesel dropped a hint about being part of The Inhumans, and it turns out he wasn’t just blowing smoke.  The studio is happy with the existing script by Joe Robert Cole, and now the next logical step is to take it out to filmmakers.  Hit the jump for more.

inhumans-comic-book-coverAccording to our sources, Marvel plans to handle The Inhumans in the same way they handled Guardians of the Galaxy.  For those who don’t know, the original draft of Guardians was written by Nicole Perlman, who was part of Marvel’s writing program.  That draft then went out to filmmakers.  When James Gunn came on board, he added his flavor and details to the story, but the characters, story structure, and beats from Perlman’s draft remained in place.  As Adam explained in his recent editorial, directors are brought on board to execute a specific vision.

Cole also came out of Marvel’s writing program, and the studio is pleased with his script, so now they’re presumably ready to take it out to filmmakers.  We can also assume that since Guardians was a success, the studio is willing to bring on a director with a unique voice like Gunn.  He didn’t upend the Marvel formula, but his personality flows through the picture.  He was in tune with a group of oddball outsiders, and that made him the best man for the job.

So who’s the best choice for The Inhumans?  Briefly, the Inhumans were created by alien experiments on primitive homo-sapiens.  The alien race behind the experiments, the Kree, abandoned their work and the Inhumans went on to form a society of their own, which is led by the king Black Bolt and his family Medusa, Karnak, Gorgon, Triton, Crystal, Maximus the Mad, and the canine Lockjaw.  For more on The Inhumans, read Marvel’s wiki page.

Our sources tell us that this movie is part of Marvel not only expanding its list of properties, but actively building a multiple-film cosmic universe.

To be clear, we don’t know the details about this script, and we don’t know the directors the studio has on its wish list.  What we know is that Marvel is ready to move forward on The Inhumans, and we’re hearing it will take one of the dates on their current schedule.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN Moves to March

0

Warner Bros. has moved Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to March 25, 2016.

In what has been the biggest stare down in comic book movie history, the release date of CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 and BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE have been one in the same. Marvel has repeatedly stated they weren’t moving their release date and WB never broached the subject, rather just giving teasers of the lengthy production at SDCC 14.

We weren’t sure which studio was going to move first, but much to the chagrin of comic book fans everywhere, someone finally gave. It has been a long, tiresome struggle but we’ve finally reached a compromise. Batman & Superman will fight at the first sight of spring and Captain America will kick off the star-spangled summer movie season.

Rest easy friends and let us know which movie you’re more excited for!
