I never thought we’d hear the day AVENGERS 2 finished production, but now it has. Joss Whedon has confirmed so with a picture on twitter.

After posting the first images of Charlie Cox looking like David Duchovny who was playing Matt Murdock on DAREDEVIL, even more photos made their way online with a better look at the actor. We have the snapshots in a gallery for you below!
From these new photos, it appears Mr. Murdock was delivering street justice as Daredevil and got into a brawl which is leaving him slightly bruised in the facial region. Regardless, I think the casting choice is spot on and I can’t wait for this series to air.

This is a list of all known secrets, easter eggs, hints, and nods to other Marvel properties as seen in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. If you know of any more, you should let us know! The images are taken from a camera version of the film that is only used as proof, I recommend everyone see this movie in theaters. Now.
No other Marvel movie was referenced outside of the Collector’s vault, but we’ll see the Guardians come back to kick more ass in July 2017.
Some new on-set photos from the upcoming Marvel & Netflix team-up DAREDEVIL have surfaced through Instagram, giving us Charlie Cox as the blind lawyer himself. At first I thought it was David Duchovny (The WRONG DD) with sunglasses on, but it appears to be Matt Murdock on a park bench, enjoying the simple things in life. That means he’s not dressed up as Daredevil and fighting around the city.
Other than the vibe that Cox is NAILING Murdock, I’m really curious to see the outfit for DD when it previews. Nothing against the red leather Affleck one (ok, everything against it), it’ll be very interesting to see how the new iteration plays out with these grounded shows.

Ok then, now that we’re past that, we have confirmation from James Gunn that ComicUI’s theory that Adam Warlock was in Thor: The Dark World and Guardians of the Galaxy is TRUE!
Thats right, we called this last year and finally, we get word from the director/writer himself that we got it right. In a podcast with Empire, he gives us a hint at whats in the Collector’s ‘vault’ and we’ll be covering this more later, but we just couldn’t resist the chance to brag about our deduction skills. You can listen to the podcast from Empire below.
But not before we tell you that Gunn took to twitter to also confirm the purple stone in Guardians was in fact the POWER STONE! Thats right, the purple is power and last year Kevin Feige confirmed the Tesseract is the Space stone. That leaves us with the Aether, which is predicted to be the Reality stone, and potentially Loki’s staff, which could be the Mind stone. Beyond that, we’re still yet to be exposed to the Soul Stone (possibly in Doctor Strange movie) and the Time Stone, which could give us all 6 stones to complete the Infinity storyline. I doubt we’ll see a gauntlet, but probably something else.
So there you have it, more Marvel cosmic information than you can shake a stick at. Are you ready for more Guardians in 2017? According to our recent review of the film, we are.

Earlier this week, we posted some potential SPOILERS regarding a screenshot of Thanos from GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and the end credits. (We loved the movie, by the way so read our review) Shortly after the film has released, Marvel has put forth an official image of Thanos, the mad titan, from their cinematic universe.
The image in question is a screenshot from the Guardians film, but does not reveal more than the official Thanos look that Marvel will be using going forward. If you’ve seen THE AVENGERS, this won’t be a surprise, but feel free to avert your eyes if need be.

Marvel has released their last cinematic offering for the year and true to form, they’ve finished strong yet again with GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. The film brings forth a rag tag group of criminals who overcome their personal flaws to find that even those who are downtrodden can rise to any occasion. From thieves, thugs, murderers, and psychos, Marvel crafts an expanded cinematic universe that is ripe for the picking to any fan, but also accessible and full of heart for the average movie goer. Had the Guardians themselves not been molded out of culpable characters, the lack of true villain motivation would hold the film back from being successful and entertaining, however the numerous miscreants who populate the film at any given time ensure we don’t dwell on that downfall for too long. I can’t claim this to be the best Marvel film, but it sure does rank in the top 3.
Guardians of the Galaxy hits the ground running, giving us only the backstory of how Peter Quill got into space. It immediately jumps into what many people have called the macguffin of the film, or the item that will eventually bring all the character’s paths together. This quick pace works to the advantage of the movie, rather than giving us the backstories for all five Guardians. This still allows us to experience arcs for each character, while also maintaining some mystery as to the dispositions everyone brings to the table. Our heroes are the reason the movie succeeds, especially with how each one brings a defining characteristic to the team. Rocket will of course be the standout character, seeing as a raccoon isn’t normally a favored animal. His wit, humor, and cynicism all play together nicely to craft a new staple of Marvel’s universe. Star-Lord will also be remembered for all of the humor Chris Pratt brings to the role, capitalizing on the fast paced jokes that are sprinkled throughout the script.
This can’t be said for everyone who appears in the film, as the reason this film doesn’t receive a perfect score is due to villain issues. These tend to plague some of the more recent Marvel films, such as Thor: The Dark World, which gave us bland, generic antagonists without a clear reason for their actions. As a comic book reader, I brought my cosmic Marvel knowledge into the film and found myself disappointed with Ronan and the lack of the Kree culture. We see only 2 Kree acknowledged as such throughout the film, which diminishes the relationship between them and the Xandarians/Nova Corps. Ronan appears fairly quickly and without reason in the film and makes some pretty rash, unexplained decisions as the movie went on, leading to an ending that didn’t have the impact it could have. The same goes for Korath, the man who hasn’t heard of Star-Lord early on in the film and trailers, appearing only to provide a small roadblock later in the movie.
The story is one that stays true through the end, although sometimes it feels we started in the middle of a large one. The mysterious orb that Star-Lord steals at the beginning stays with our characters throughout the film till the end, providing a solid foundation for all characters to come in and out of play. This same story takes us through space to different worlds where the Guardians often find more trouble than happiness, but the varied environments keep everything fresh and exciting. The 2 hour movie will be over before you realize it, leaving you wish that the already announced sequel was less than 3 years away.
I can’t leave out one of the standout parts of the film, which is its use of fantastical use of songs from the soundtrack, aptly titled Awesome Mix Vol 1. From the moment the film starts, it becomes apparent that the songs chosen for this movie were no accident. The playlist of 70s songs gives us ample variety and James Gunn uses it to the greatest effect possible. This is one of the best uses of diegetic music to date, and within the first 5 minutes of Star-Lord’s presence, you’ll understand why. As the movie continues and even through the credits, the soundtrack lingers, making us long for Awesome Mix Vol 2 more than we ever realized.
At the end of the day, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY was a risk for Marvel, seeing as its not a traditional origin movie, nor superhero film. Our characters exist in the universe when it opens, having gone through their own personal journeys before starting another one within the movie. Our “heroes” aren’t really heroes in the normal sense either, they have rap sheets miles long and still aren’t perfect at the end of the day, but they accept their flaws and work for the overall good in the galaxy. The overall film is very much the same way, something that shouldn’t work but has enough charm, personality, and energy to make anyone root for it in the end. We’re firm believers that the Guardians brings another great effort from Marvel and definitely deserves the praise it has been getting.

We have gotten our hands on a screenshot of Thanos from Guardians (which we’ll be seeing tonight) and also, someone has leaked the end credits sequence of the film as well. At this point in time, I have only seen the Thanos picture, but lets be real, we’ve already seen Thanos at the end of The Avengers. That wasn’t bad, but you can get a taste of the Mad Titan before you go get your mind blown away.
Next up, the end credits scenes are always something to behold. They tease the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but can also be little teases that show more intimate sides of the movies, such as the Shawarma scene from Avengers as well. This would be the most SPOILER laden thing about the movie, since it happens after its already over, but we wouldn’t be doing justice if we didn’t share it with those who can’t wait any longer to know whats going on.

I’m not sure how we missed this, but Marvel is brining a new, amazing looking game to mobile devices this fall. Announced at SDCC this past weekend the game looks to be pretty awesome (Brian thought it was an Xbox game) and contain one of my favorite characters, Black Bolt. Marvel announced a new game for mobile platforms during Comic-Con International 2014 that will pit some of Marvel’s iconic heroes against one another. “Marvel Contest of Champions,” by “Kingdoms of Camelot” developer Kabam and set to hit Fall 2014, is an action-oriented title where players fight their way through the Marvel Universe and collect characters as play progresses. Written by “Legendary Star-Lord” scribe Sam Humphries, the game’s trailer and screenshots reveal characters from across the Marvel U, including Captain America, Iron Man, Deadpool, Vision, Colossus, Black Panther, Hulk, Storm, Thor, Cyclops, Black Bolt, Spider-Man and Juggernaut.
“In terms of controls, we most definitely are designing this game specifically for the strengths of the touch device platforms. There won’t be any buttons or virtual joysticks. I know it sounds clichéd, but the controls really are intuitive and easy to pick up. There are a variety of basic attacks — light, medium, and heavy — and each hero has multiple signature special attacks that can be used for greater damage,” creative director Cuz Parry told Marvel.com. “There is a combo system that rewards players for mixing up their moves and performing well-timed blocks. The higher the combo, the faster your special attacks regenerate. I can’t go too much deeper into the specifics but rest assured our dev team is comprised of many avid fighting game experts that are dedicated to making a fun, accessible fighting game with a degree of depth to satisfy fans of the genre.”
