Captain America’s Uniform Crisis

1

Word on the street is that Captain America’s new uniform is too military and less representative of the old Red, White, and Blue. My feelings on the topic are fairly neutral, depending on how the actual outfit is portrayed and used in the films rather than out of focus set photos. However, to ease those with heightened anxiety and untempered nervousness, Joblo has unveiled some potential spoiler-ish information regarding the changes of Cap’s outfit over the course of the film Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
”This is Cap’s S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform (obviously) but for circumstances unknown (either it getting destroyed or Cap hating it), at some point in the film, Steve breaks into the Smithsonian and steals back his 40’s uniform. So for all of us that loved the Johnston suit, Captain America will be back in it by the end of the movie. Sort of takes the sting away from this lameness.”
If this turns out to be true, then we may get some humorous scene depicting the ever golden Steve Rogers hijacking an outfit that used to be his. What are your thoughts?

Captain America Fight Photos, now with more shield

Filming on Captain America: The Winter Soldier the past could days has been absolutely brutal for the actors, at least I suspect so. Included below are even more pictures of Captain America and the Winter Soldier duking it out (or making out) in a parking lot. As you can tell, Rogers gets some good tosses in and his shield gets tossed around a bit, even stuck in a van, but I cannot wait to see this scene unravel on the big screen. Also, I’d like to point out a blue and grey shield that Cap is holding in a certain photo looks pretty funky. Hopefully it will be graphically changed in post production to the old red, white, and blue, but ya never know these days. Browse through the slideshow below and get stoked!

Winter Soldier is ready for his Close Up

1

We found a great picture for you over on Reddit. I had to double take on this picture. I thought it was Jared Leto posing for his upcoming 30 Seconds to Mars album and decided he had a cold face at the same time. Nope, we get a super large close up of Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier on the set of the upcoming Captain America sequel. What we can tell from this picture is how awesome this ‘baddie’ really looks on screen and that his outfit matches that of Cap’s too, in terms of utility. Why is he wearing the face mask though? That would be my biggest question, other than hide his identity. Functional purpose? Lets hope. Also notice the orange dots? Those are CG markers, so they can make his arm very nice and metallic in post. Even before the computer magic, it looks pretty shiny and awesome.

Full Frontal: Captain America’s New Suit (Photo)

The people over at ComicBookMovie.com (which feels like they’re brethren now) have been given a piece of “official” concept art from the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier film. We say “official” in quotes, because theres no proof of this and they were sent it by a guy named “Flint,” who seems to have helped them with this kind of material before. Either way, have a nice new look at Captain America’s garb for his next venture. Do you think Coulson had some input on this one? (Too soon?)

Just a few pointers on this, notice the lack of red in the outfit, very blue and white, with subtle amounts of black and brown to accentuate the utility of the outfit. Its very combat ready, seems lightweight and militaristic at the same time. If you refer back to one of our first posts with concept art of the suit, you can tell that they’re sticking with the star on his chest, with S.H.I.E.L.D. wings going to his shoulders. Very much like director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Steve Rogers from the comic books.

Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique Set Photos

1

The folks over at ComicBookMovie.com have some set photos from X-men: Days of Future Past showing off Mystique in her blue body suit, a very tight fight for Jennifer Lawrence as well. I’m sure there are some very dirty comments about blue balls and blue-ing yourself that could be made, but I’ll just let you peruse the photos and get more excited for the upcoming film.

Included are 2 photos from the F1 Grand Prix which James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, and Lawrence all made a guest appearance at. Check them out in the slideshow below.

Editorial: mc chris Cartoon Kickstarter

1

Allow me to preface the main portion of the article: for my first editorial, I wanted to focus on something that means a lot to me, and that is the fans of media. Those who not only consume it, but exude it as well. Fans, obsessionists, and anyone with passion beyond the initial view or use are the people who create the culture that allows the product, medium, company, character, or whatever it may be, grow and expand and touch the lives of others. To me, that is just as important as the initial creator’s work, because of the expansion that happens. Superman was not instantly popular the day it was sold, but through word of mouth and an avid fan base, the character was able to grow and become the first true American superhero, even if he is from Krypton.

Lately, as I frequent more media conventions, not just the Comic Cons, I’ve grown fonder of the artists and writers who are there. I have purchased artwork and comic books to add to my ever growing collection and that is the highlight of each trip. Sure, last month I got to see Stan Lee talk to a crowd, he even said “Inhumans” outloud, but having a limited edition poster of the Superior Spider-man #1 signed by artist Ryan Stegman gave me a bigger rush. Another guy did an upper-bust drawing of Blackbolt for me too, these will all be framed and heralded as my trophies from each hunt.

Now that I’ve digressed from the article’s headline, I hope my enthusiasm for those with enthusiasm for media is apparent. Today, I want to talk about an artist that does everything. He draws, he raps, does voice work, writes a TV show, and who knows what else. We’ve sent a couple messages back and forth on Facebook and he even retweeted me once! That may not be enough to make us friends, but I respect the hell out of his work. I’m talking about mc chris (Lowercase, no dots, iTunes).

Many of you may be familiar with his work but just not know it yet. My first encounter with Chris was through my favorite television show ever…Aqua Teen Hunger Force. He voiced the characters of MC Pee Pants, Sir Loin, and Little Brittle, a recurring character who has been sent to earth from Hell to take part in various schemes through his music, which Meatwad listens to adamantly. Great hits include “I Want Candy” (iTunes) and “For Da Shorteez,” (YouTube) both catchy tunes. He also appeared (YouTube) in the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie for Theaters in a smaller capacity, as a fly with somefunky beats.

Not to stop there for voice work, since he has such a unique voice (like a 10 year old, or so I’ve been told, iTunes), he has frequented such Adult Swim hits as Sealab 2021 and the Brak show. However, when I started to hear the rest of my college cohorts talk about mc chris in a popular manner was when his hit song “Fett’s Vette” (iTunes) was played on Zack and Miri Make a Porno. You know you know it too, the chorus includes “My backpack’s got jets, I’m Boba the Fett.” Now its in your head, you’re welcome. The song was actually released back in 2001 on the album Life’s a Bitch and I’m Her Pimp (Free download minus Fett’s Vette). Since then, I listen to at least one mc chris album monthly, varying from Goes to Hell  (iTunes, 006 is killer) and the compilation/remix albums apple lung (FREE download) and apple tummy (Another FREE download), which sounds so much better than Girl Talk. His songs run the gamut from Star Wars to Batman to Harry Potter and Arby’s, so theres plenty to be entertained with.

Recently, mc has gone on to attempt to create an mc chris Cartoon show, which will be animated and produced by Titmouse Inc, the company behind Afro Samurai, Superjail, Metalocalypse, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Venture Brothers, and The Black Panther series that ran on BET. So this company isn’t something to be scoffed at, by far, and I feel mc chris’ work, not only in music, but in television, has great potential. To fund this cartoon, he didn’t go to the large production companies but set forth to Kickstarter to see if he could raise the lofty goal of $230,00 from fan contributions. As of this writing, he is at $24,000 with 51 days left. That is no small amount, my friends, no small amount at all. Theres plenty of time left too and you can count on ComicUI to be a backer. In fact, I already have and actively look forward to my t-shirt that says “don’t get me started’ all over it. If reverse psychology was ever a thing (it actually is), then it worked on me.

My reasons for supporting mc chris and his Wild West Mars cartoon are pretty straight forward. He is an artist and artists need the love. I’m a huge fan of creativity and the ability to express yourselves, which mc is doing and not giving up. No amount too large, people, has scared him away. Nor has any negative feedback, he’s sticking to his guns and for that I respect it as well. He’s not asking for handouts without any reciprocation, each monetary donation level has items that backers will receive. The higher the donation, the better the swag. From stickers to buttons to shirts to a personal concert from Chris himself. If I wasn’t currently chest deep in college debt, you could count on me to blow my wad on what should have been a dry run.

Another reason is that his content speaks to me. Not many people can write entire songs about Neville Longbottom from Harry Potter and get away with it, nor an album with the 4 lesser known bounty hunters from the Empire Strikes Back. To me, it was the little nods to everything that got me to smile like a skit that is an homage from the original Muppet movie in Townie (Sure don’t look like Presbyterians to me). His ability to tackle the nerdiest and most obscure of references is something I appreciate and relate to, on so many levels.

If anything, I want everyone to at least go check out mc chris’ Kickstarter page for the Wild West Mars cartoon and see if it would be up your alley and something you want to support. And remember, if you can support and build up your local artists, they appreciate. I know I sure do.

New TV Spot for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

1

ABC has unveiled a new, albiet brief, trailer for the upcoming “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” television series that will be airing during the NBA Finals tomorrow night. Not really showing off anything new, the marketing for this show has been pretty spectacular for a show that has been based on the number 3 grossing movie of all time, I”m talking about The Avengers! We got a taste of the non-super hero characters in the Marvel One-Shots that featured (now a zombie or something) Agent Coulson and Agent Sitwell as they go about their daily business.

In Marvel”s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (that acronym is awful to type), we encounter the return of Coulson as  he gets a new batch of young, hip agents in the Level 7 and Lola, the car. Alright, the car probably won”t be a highlight, but at least the humor and deadpan delivery from Clark Gregg as Coulson still remains. I honestly can”t wait to watch this show weekly and get my nerd on as they give hints to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe we haven”t encountered in the films yet. My hope is that they”ll also be able to lead into S.W.O.R.D., its like a space S.H.I.E.L.D. that was also created by Whedon in the comics.

Watch the new trailer and share the excitement as we count down to Tuesdays this Fall!

Joss Whedon (MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) shows us not all heroes are super with MARVEL’S AGENTS OF The offer is really a trial basis, using the Global Draw setting up free mobile roulette game games like Keybet and Hot Shot Roulette plus slot faves like Thai Flower and Rainbow Riches in 20 of Paddy’s United kingdom shops. S.H.I.E.L.D.

Fresh from his role in the summer’s box office smash, MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS, Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) returns to the worldwide law enforcement organization S.H.I.E.L.D.  He puts together a small, highly trained, team of Agents to tackle the cases that haven’t been classified yet, the new, the strange and the unknown.  That team consists of straight arrow Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), an expert in combat and espionage; pilot and martial artist Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen); and brilliant if socially awkward scientists Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge). They’ll be joined by civilian new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

Prepare for an epic adventure that showcases the hope and wonder of the human spirit. This is a world of Super Heroes, aliens and the unusual – of action, spectacle and world spanning stories. The show will speak to the human condition through the lens of our very human, non-powered S.H.I.E.L.D agents – that together we are greater than we are apart, and that we can make a difference in the world.

Executive Produced and co-written by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog), Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Smallville, Lost, Heroes) comes Marvel’s first live-action TV series, MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Kick-Ass up for Quicksilver

1

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, known from such films as Kick-Ass, Kick-Ass 2, and Savages, is reportedly the top contender in Hollywood’s rat race to play Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver in Joss Whedon’s Avengers 2. Now I’ve not been a fan of his casting in Kick-Ass, however, this may be turn out to be better. We’ve reported before that Evan Peters has been cast as Quicksilver, however that was in Fox’s X-men: Days of Future Past. Confused already? You won’t be the only one.

In that same article, I discuss the issues surrounding using the offspring of Magneto in two franchises owned by separate movie studios. A quick recap is that Marvel can use the characters as Avengers without saying that they are mutants. For an example, read Ultimates 2. Fox can use the characters as mutants, but never refer to their huge roles as Avengers.

To really make things interesting, Taylor-Johnson and Peters were both in Kick-Ass together. T-J playing the lead role and Peters one of his goofy friends. As one officially steps into the role of the fastest mutant in the world and the other potentially takes on the mantle of the fastest Avenger, do you think there could be some actor rivalry or only a stronger friendship and consistent interpretation of the character?

Either way, user Lobo on Superherohype put it best, “I can’t wait for Amalgam Comics’ Quick-Ass!”
