Joker and Harley: DC’s SUICIDE SQUAD Cast Confirmed

0

We’ve not heard much out of DC lately, especially after their big movie lineup announcement. But now we know more about the most unusual film in their slate, SUICIDE SQUAD.

As of today, DC has confirmed the casting for the film and it is (honestly) unbelievable.

  • Jared Leto as Joker
  • Will Smith as Deadshot
  • Tom Hardy as Rick Flag
  • Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn
  • Jai Courtney as Boomerang
  • Cara Delevigne as Enchantress

We’re asking ourselves “who?” just as much as you are. But we’ll be covering that later. For now, just know that SUICIDE SQUAD is happening and its got some big names attached.

SUICIDE SQUAD directed by David Ayer and produced by Charles Roven and Richard Suckle, will begin shooting next April in Toronto.

What do YOU think of the casting announcement?

[alert variation=”alert-success”]

“The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one,” Warner Bros. president Greg Silverman said in a statement. “We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under David Ayer’s amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero.”

Warners has long viewed this project as the “Ocean’s Eleven” of comicbook movies and has been looking to load up the roster with top tier talent.

Warners still has the role of Amanda Waller, the character who oversees the team (similarly to Nick Fury in the Marvel universe), to cast before the film goes into production. The studio’s shortlist of actresses being eyed for the role includes Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Oprah Winfrey, whom sources say would be WB’s first choice for the part.

Leto, who is making his first pic since winning the Oscar for “Dallas Buyers Club,” is repped by CAA and Untitled.

Smith can be seen next in Warner Bros. “Focus” which also stars Robbie. Both are reppped by CAA with Robbie also repped by Management 360 and Aran Michael Management and Smith repped by Overbrook Entertainment.

Hardy is currently filming “The Revenant” opposite Leonardo DiCaprio which bows next Christmas. He is repped by CAA.

The WME-repped Delevingne, an English model-turned-actress, can next be seen in Warner Bros.’ “Pan.”

Courtney appears in the upcoming “Terminator” reboot as well as Universal’s “Unbroken” and Lionsgate’s “Insurgent” and is repped by UTA and Silver Lining Entertainment.

Marvel Super Hero RPG Coming to iOS Next Year

0

Marvel is cashing in on their mobile games. NOTE: We’ve not seen hardly any console games from Marvel since Captain America: Super Soldier. But we’ve seen so many mobile games, including one of my favorites: Marvel Puzzle Quest.

As 2015 gives us bigger iPhones and better iPads, Marvel is teaming up with Kabam! (a second time) to create a Marvel RPG! We can only hope its as good as the first Marvel RPGs (Ultimate Alliance) and at a reasonable price (no in-app purchases). You can get the next Marvel Game, Contest of Champions, later in December. I’ve been on the beta and its pretty sweet so far!

Right now, information on the game is thin, but the press release says enough. Marvel + RPG + Mobile. Who is ready to play?

[alert variation=”alert-error”]

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Kabam, the leader in the western world for free-to-play games for traditional players, today announced an extended collaboration with Marvel Entertainment to create a second forthcoming free-to-play game based on Super Heroes in the Marvel Universe.

“Marvel Interactive is continuing our commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality games for mobile devices by expanding on our relationship with Kabam”

The two companies first started working together on Marvel Contest of Champions, a fighting game being released on mobile devices in December 2014. Marvel Contest of Champions had its first-look unveiling at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, and its first hands-on demo with fans at the Marvel booth at New York Comic-Con this past October. Marvel Contest of Champions is being developed in Kabam’s Vancouver studio.

This second collaboration will be a mobile role-playing game developed by Kabam’s San Francisco studio. As with Marvel Contest of Champions, it will bring some of Marvel’s most beloved characters to life with an anticipated release on mobile devices in the fall of 2015. The second Marvel game will be created by the same team responsible for Kabam’s hit games Castle Age and Underworld Empire.

“The Marvel brand represents some of the most iconic and loved characters in the history of action entertainment,” said Kent Wakeford, COO of Kabam. “Marvel continues to dominate the box office with mega hit after mega hit, and we at Kabam look forward to extending Marvel’s universe into a blockbuster mobile game.”

“Marvel Interactive is continuing our commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality games for mobile devices by expanding on our relationship with Kabam,” says Peter Phillips, EVP/GM of Interactive & Digital Distribution, Marvel Entertainment. “Kabam’s development teams do a great job of creating original, true-to-character gameplay experiences which supports that commitment.”

Games with Gold – December 2014

0

The holiday season is upon us, and Microsoft has announced the last Games with Gold for 2014 along with some Black Friday deals as well. As part of the Xbox Live Gold program, subscribers will get access to one Xbox One game, and two Xbox 360 games in December. It has been a bit disappointing to only see a single Xbox One game available for the last several months, but Microsoft has started to ramp up their Deals with Gold as well.

Xbox One

Worms Battlegrounds

This month’s Xbox One game is Worms Battlegrounds which was developed by Team17. This game came out on May 30 of this year for both the PS4 and Xbox One, and is a turn based strategy game based on the Worms series which debuted in 1995. Worms Battlegrounds has gotten mixed reviews, with a 70 Metascore and 6.6 User Score on metacritic. Worms Battlegrounds will be available starting December 1st, and normally retails for $24.99.

“Worms™ Battlegrounds brings friends and families together in the noble pursuit of self‐improvement, world domination and exploding sheep. Worms™ Battlegrounds is the biggest and best Worms™ game to date – more worms, larger landscapes, more dynamic water, more weapons and more customization items than ever before. It features beautiful high definition 3D visuals (but still retains the classic 2D gameplay) with new lighting effects, new features to help users interact socially, exciting additions to improve the single player experience, and more of everything a Worms fan could want.”

Xbox 360

The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief

The first Xbox 360 game, available December 1st to December 15th, is The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief from The Adventure Company. This is a three episode point and click adventure game set Europe in the 1960’s. Only the first episode, which normally retails for $9.99, is available this month as part of Games with Gold. Episode 1 received a 74 Metascore and 6.9 User Score on Metacritic. If you like a good mystery, this may be a game you will enjoy.

“The Raven – Legacy of a master thief is a thrilling crime adventure in three episodes from the creators of “The Book of Unwritten Tales“. Full of twists and turns, it immerses you in both sides of the story, combining thrill-of-the-chase whodunit with the risk and reward of a heist story.”

SSX

The second game for the Xbox 360 is the snowboarding game from EA Canada, SSX. This version of the SSX franchise was released in February 2012 to generally positive reviews. As you can guess, players control a snowboarder and can take part in the World Tour mode, or Tricky mode. There is a substantial soundtrack included with this game as well to keep you entertained. SSX received a 82 Metascore and 6.5 User Score on metacritic, and normally retails for $19.99. SSX will be available from December 16th to December 31st.

First JURASSIC WORLD Trailer Premieres

0

Jurassic Park is one of those defining movies in my life. Not only did I fall in love with the movies, but the books and toys and everything else I could get my hands on. After Jurassic Park 3 let me down, I was skeptical of a fourth return to Isla Nublar and the park. However, with the first trailer for JURASSIC WORLD, my fears have been alleviated.

Set 22 years after the first movie, the film appears to star 3 Marvel movie alum: Ty Simpkins (Iron Man 3), Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-Man 3). It seems we’re not interested too much in fossilized amber but more in genetic manipulation of sorts.

Watch the trailer for yourself and let us know how you feel about going back to the island. Hold onto your butts.

UPDATED: 2 New AGENT CARTER TV Spots

0

UPDATE: One video has surfaced in full quality online. Watch it now!

Not one, but two new TV spots for Marvel’s upcoming show AGENT CARTER have been hastily recorded via camera phones and uploaded to the internet. I may sound bitter, but low quality isn’t something we should be seeing too much of anymore, as we live in the realm of digital TV and phones that record 4K video. But I digress.

With each spot I see for ABC’s AGENT CARTER, I get more excited. It is an 8 part series, meaning it isn’t treated as a normal television show. There will be 8 total episodes and that concludes the ‘event’ so to speak, but there is a chance the series could return for ‘season 2’ but its not really a seasonal thing.

You’ll be able to find me Tuesday, January 6 watching Peggy Carter return to action and give us some history of SHIELD. Expect our reactions afterwards!

[alert]

Years before Agent Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. team swore to protect those who cannot protect themselves from threats they cannot conceive, there was Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell, Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger,” Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), who pledged the same oath but lived in a different time when women weren’t recognized as being as smart or as tough as their male counterparts. But no one should ever underestimate Peggy. It’s 1946 and peace has dealt Peggy a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy finds herself stuck doing administrative work when she would rather be back out in the field; putting her vast skills into play and taking down the bad guys. But she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers – aka Captain America. When old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger”) finds himself being framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons to anyone willing to pony up the cash, he contacts Peggy – the only person he can trust – to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons and clear his name. He empowers his butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy, “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”), to be at her beck and call when needed to help assist her as she investigates and tracks down those responsible for releasing these weapons of mass destruction. But Jarvis, who is a creature of habit and sticks to a rigid daily routine, is going to have to make some major life changes if he’s going to be able to keep up with Peggy. If caught going on these secret missions for Stark, Peggy could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison – or worse. And as she delves deeper into her investigation, she may find that those she works for are not who they seem, and she might even begin to question whether Stark is as innocent as he claims.

Oscar Isaac Cast as APOCALYPSE

0

According to Variety, Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis) has been cast as the titular character in upcoming X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. After Days of Future Past succeed at the box office, it was only a matter of time before another X-Men film came out. In fact, Bryan Singer was so confident in his movie, they did a post-credits stinger including En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse as a child in Egypt.

I don’t really remember hearing of Oscar Isaac before Inside Llewyn Davis hit the award nominations. And judging from his wiki page, he was in The Bourne Legacy as well. Most importantly, it should be noted that Mr. Isaac will be playing a TBA role in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS in 2015. The mystery around his role is intriguing and definitely has us chomping at the bit to find out if he’s good or bad or worse.

Anyways, we’ll be watching the casting announcements for Fox’s next X-Men movie and giving you all the goodies.

SPOILER: Fox’s FANTASTIC FOUR Plot Potentially Revealed

0

You know that Fox is rebooting FANTASTIC FOUR, correct? Well they are and its going to be a mess. Josh Trank (Chronicle) is directing the film and it honestly couldn’t be farther from any FF book or story ever created. Not that deviating from source material is a bad thing, this is just taking liberties that shouldn’t be taken and as a film-maker myself, it sounds disastrous.

We recently shared some pictures of “Doctor Doom” fighting the Thing and Human Torch in a green screen environment. These were promptly taken down by Fox, given some weight to their legitimacy. Some rumors of Toby Kebbell’s Doom not being actual Doom and instead will be a cyber-activist have recently began making circulations as well. We can only see if anything will turn out to be true.

But the most recent ‘leaks’ of sort for the film include the actual plot of the film and we want to share it with you, whether its true or not. Below you’ll find that FANTASTIC FOUR for 2015 will definitely be a mixed bag, and thats not a witty reference to the interracial family we’ll see take prominence. The biggest note in the release is that The Thing will have the ability to turn back and forth during circumstances which he is under heavy duress (The Hulk, anyone?) But we know he doesn’t normally have this power in most comics, but is a recent addition to Marvel’s Ultimate version of Ben Grimm.

If you have any ideas or feelings on the new FANTASTIC FOUR, you let us know. We sure don’t know what to think.

Reed is a genius convenience store clerk with Ben. Reed’s parents don’t care about him, and Ben’s dad is abusive. They’re good friends and have each other’s backs. Reed writes a paper for community college on teleportation that attracts the attention of Dr. Franklin Storm, CEO of the Baxter Building research center.
Storm has a son, Johnny, and an adoptive daughter, Sue, whose father, Storm’s old partner, died in an experiment gone wrong. Johnny and Sue are party kids, and Sue is particularly disdainful of science. Reed and Sue don’t get along at first.
Victor Doomashev is a anti-social Eastern European computer programmer and hacktivist who calls himself “Doom”. He hates the 1%, particularly Storm, whom he claims corrupts science for profit.
Storm uses Reed’s paper to complete some equations on a machine to access another dimension, the N-Zone. Reed invites Ben to watch the machine being turned on. Sue and Johnny are also there. Doom manages to hack into the Baxter Building’s servers and use a computer virus to damage the machine, which explodes. Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben are exposed to otherwordly energy and become mutants with powers that they can’t control.
Storm takes them to the Baxter Building and creates containment suits for their powers. They begin to train. Reed and Storm also begin developing a way to revert the accident. Sue blames Reed for everything, but they eventually become friends and then a couple. Ben can switch off his powers when he’s not in danger. Johnny changes colors based on heat intensity, and Sue has some borderline telekinetic thing. Reed is pretty much Reed.
Doom finds out that the four have acquired powers and becomes angry it’s not him, so he comes up with a plan to break into the Baxter Building to access the N-Zone through the rebuild machine. As a distraction, he reprograms a bunch of stolen military drones, the “Doombots”, to attack the building. The four come together as a team for the first time and save people.

Doom activates the machine and gets technopathy powers or something, basically energy blasts and making machines obey to him, and a fight ensues. The machine goes critical, and, in order to prevent it from exploding and destroying the city, the four push into it and Storm shuts it off.
There’s a countdown before it reaches critical mass. Inside the N-Zone, the four battle Doom again, and manage to leave him trapped there after he disfigures himself soaking up too much power. The Four manage to escape, but Ben gets the blunt of it to protect Reed and can’t switch back.
The machine is destroyed, Doom is gone, the four have learned to work as a team, and Reed vows to find a cure for Ben. And it ends there.

Dumb and Dumber To Review

0

If anyone on the street was to stop and ask my favorite movie on a personal level, the answer would be Dumb and Dumber without hesitation. This may sound odd coming from someone who studies film and attempts to create something similar, but the original film came to me when I was growing up and finding out what I wanted to be. 20 years later, I found myself revisiting Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas on another cross-country journey.

Dumb and Dumber To manages to keep you entertained throughout the film through mildly predictable gags and a few truly laugh out loud moments. Despite the apparent aging of the two stars, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels seem to fall right back into the goofballs we fondly remember them as. I applaud the Farrelly brothers for having a story that gives us good reasons for returning to Harry and Lloyd at this part of their life, but tragically refer back to the original outing on one too many occasions. If you enjoy Dumb and Dumber more than the average movie goer, you’ll probably have a good time at the sequel, but if you’re not into ‘dumb’ comedy, then I think you’re better off waiting another 20 years for this one.

The Good

Dumb and Dumber To has some unique story elements that I think only work when using Harry and Lloyd. The fact Harry doesn’t know he’s adopted had some great gags, and as far as the writing goes, some bits of the film are brought back later in hilarious ways. The sheer ignorance of the characters also works to great effect, such as trying to find an address on an envelope. I’d even give the Farrelly brothers credit for not spending the first half of a movie as a road trip film, which could have easily been done but was avoided with great success. This, coupled with the new characters added to the film, bring about some smart moments in a movie that claims to be dumb (and dumber). Lastly, the music cues for some parts of the film are spot on. When you hear them, you’ll instantly remember the original film as well as prepare yourself for a similar scene, which also…doesn’t feel completely right.

The Dumb

This is far from a perfect sequel, but I can’t say it is trying to cash in on the original’s cult following either. Where Dumb To falls short is actual cohesiveness and motivation. The journey for Harry to find his long lost daughter is a bit disjointed as it moves through the film, only getting to the actual ‘chase’ about halfway through. It could have had a quicker beginning had it avoided unnecessary throwbacks to the original. This is where I’d like to say the movie can stand on its own, but it couldn’t. Without Dumb and Dumber, most of the jokes in the film would just be flat. Reused lines, music cues, and gags can only get you so far, but the film brings new ones to the table too. To compare, Dumb To is not the Hangover 2, because that pos is unbearable.

The Dumber

The villains in this film don’t live up to the original either. Having the chick from the Walking Dead that everyone hated, as well as the yelling guy from Step Brothers was just a bad call. They’re not menacing, have zero energy, and are useless. We all know Harry and Lloyd are their own worst enemies, so leave it at that, or at least have something related to the first film here. When I wanted it most, we got it the least. And to close on the dumber parts of the film, I’d like to point out that we get it. Everyone gets that these idiots don’t understand idioms, but by the end it was just beating a dead horse. If anything, they should definitely write us an IOU for all of those we had to endure.

Marvel’s AGENTS OF SHIELD Coming to Netflix

0

This honestly took a lot longer than I expected, but Marvel’s TV show, AGENTS OF SHIELD, now has a Netflix release date.

For U.S subscribers, SHIELD Season 1 will drop on Thursday, November 20th, which should give you plenty of time to binge watch it this holiday season.

If you haven’t seen it, the show isn’t bad but only gets way better when it starts interacting with Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Currently SHIELD is on its second season and is still knocking it out of the park Tuesday at 9 PM on ABC.

I personally recommend the show and if you have Netflix, you’re not losing anything but time now. So…Hail Hydra! Or not.
