Does BLACK WIDOW Have A Post Credits Scene?

0

BLACK WIDOW is now in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier access, a $30 purchase on the streaming service. With Marvel having debuted three shows on Disney+ in 2021, this is our first foray back into the MCU proper since Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019. In a rare move for Marvel, BLACK WIDOW serves as a prequel to Avengers: Endgame and introduces to the backstory of Natasha Romanoff.

As (almost) every movie from Marvel has indoctrinated the fans, you can almost certainly expect an end credits scene to either set up the next film or more plotlines for the MCU to explore. With Black Widow being a prequel, does it buck the trend and leave us in the dark?

Of course not! We don’t do spoilers here, but there is definitely an after-credits stinger that accompanies the film. However, die-hard fans may be disappointed that there is only one after the credits roll, rather than the standard mid-credits setup. That isn’t to say there aren’t any surprises or setups along the way, just that if you’re waiting to see two pieces, you’ll only get one.

Enjoy your time watching BLACK WIDOW this weekend, whether you feel comfortable back in the theaters or prefer the (almost cheaper) option to stream on Disney+ with Premier access. Let us know what you thought of the film and if you’re as excited to dive back into Marvel’s theater goings as we are!

SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Funko Reveals

0

Set to cap 2021 off, SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME could be the biggest box office film released this year. This is also the 4th Marvel Cinematic Universe film released in less than 6 months, and will put the finishing touches on the Spider-Man trilogy. Rumors for this film are at an all time high, including Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield returning as their universe’s Spider-Men, as well as some of their villains getting reintroduced, such as Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock and Jamie Foxx’s Electro. Needless to say, a lot is riding on this film, including a huge multiverse crossover that could send fan-boys into hospitals from excitement.

To kick-off the back half of the year, Funko has unveiled the Spider-Man: No Way Home Pop! vinyl figures. While this full set doesn’t give away any of those crossover spoilers, it does raise a lot of questions about how many suits will be in the film and their full purpose. Let’s get swinging!

1Spider-Man: Upgraded Suit

Spider-Man No Way Home Upgraded SuitWe’re going to start on the least surprising reveal, the Upgraded Suit. This is the same outfit Spidey was wearing at the end of Far from Home, with red and black and some gliding wings. Nothing really new to show off, but still gives us the impression the movie will pick up right where the last one left off.

2Spider-Man: Black and Gold Suit

Spider-Man No Way Home Black and Gold SuitAs we at ComicUI would say, Boiler Up! The black and gold suit seems to be a bit stealthy, but also shows off some hints at hidden technology. Notice the hands? These look to be computer program lines and made up of some kind of chips. There are also slight blue devices above his eye brows, possibly giving him more integration with his AI from Far From Home or even other features we don’t know yet.

3Spider-Man: Integrated Suit

Spider-Man No Way Home Integrated SuitNow we’re talking about new suits! While this is truly a variation on the typical Spider-Man design, the extra features indicate a merger of mystical and machine components. The first thing is the spider web on a magical ‘disc’ on his chest (the suit does not have this normally) that is combined with his palm-down bracers that seem to be summoning energy balls or possibly webbing created projectiles. The last bit of detail is the gold highlights throughout the red and blue. Will this theme of gold have something to do with a magic material, or is it just for show?

4Doctor Strange (with shovel)

Spider-Man No Way Home Doctor StrangeWith magic suits, come great sorcerer supremes! And this sorcerer looks to be doing some snow shoveling. With big all-weather boots, a big puffy jacket, and snow shovel, Doctor Strange looks like he’ll be doing some snow removal on the side. We also notice his Eye of Agamotto necklace is still on display, despite the time stone supposedly being destroyed/returned in Endgame. Maybe there’s more than meets the eye.

5Ned and MJ

No reveals here, but Peter’s best friends Ned and MJ are coming back for the third movie! Ned is in his best track jacket and MJ in a grey suit. They could be a fun time!

One Week till BLACK WIDOW

0

It is less than 7 days till we get to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in theaters with the debut of BLACK WIDOW. This delayed arrival has definitely been a double edged sword, with that we have not had a theatrical entry since Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019, but at the same time our anticipation has grown and given us a strong reason to go out and see it on a big screen. This doesn’t discount the 2021 Disney+ shows, which do add lore and characters to the world at large, but nothing can take away from the larger beats that a movie adds to the MCU.

With the world’s health and safety in a hopeful upswing, BLACK WIDOW has taken the Disney+ Premier Access approach, giving us a theatrical chance to see the film (I got my IMAX tickets), as well as the ability to purchase the movie on Disney+ for a premium. Looking at my receipts, the $30 with unlimited re-watching is almost the same price, if not cheaper, than 2 seats. Our household will be doing both, but I absolutely love the option, as I do find myself watching Marvel movies multiple times upon release.

While BLACK WIDOW is not the first prequel film for a character for Marvel (Captain America and Captain Marvel nailed those aspects), this is the first movie to give us an insight into a character post-mortem. In Avengers: Endgame, Natasha Romanoff sacrificed her life to obtain the Soul Stone in the Avenger’s quest to bring back those that were lost during Infinity War’s climactic ending. We currently assume this film takes place mostly during the 5 years between IW and Endgame, known in-universe as “The Blip.” However, this could take place between Civil War and Infinity War, when she was on the run with Captain America and the Falcon from the government at large.

We’ll also get to see some of her original training in the Red Room era, as well as pivotal characters during those years. This includes her “sister” Yelena Belova, her father figure, Russia’s Captain America equivalent The Red Guardian, and her mother figure, Melina Vostokoff, the Iron Maiden. These relics of Russia’s political past will probably be looking to dismantle the on-going Black Widow program for spies and killers, while also dealing with the mysterious and masked Taskmaster, who has yet to be revealed.

Next week, we re-enter the theatrical MCU with the first of four movies being released in 2021. BLACK WIDOW will give us the last outing for Scarlett Johansson in the role she’s been in since Iron Man 2 in 2010, and was part of the founding Avengers team in 2012. We’re very excited for the secrets the movie reveals, as well as plot us on a new path with possibly a new Black Widow with Florence Pugh’s Yelena. Catch BLACK WIDOW in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access on July 9, 2021.

TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS Announced

0

It has been a long time since anyone has talked about or been excited for another film in the Transformers franchise. However, be prepared for some mixed feelings as the next entry has a few things going for it with the announcement of fan-favorite BEAST WARS characters joining the action. TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS is also the next entry in the franchise, next to the well received Bumblebee standalone movie set in the 1980s.

RISE OF THE BEASTS will take place in 1994, years before the Michael Bay films, and has the pleasure of bringing us Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons into the Autobot vs. Decepticon world. Originally introduced in Beast Wars, Universal has also announced Ron Perlman (Hellboy) as the voice of Optimus Primal, who transforms into a gorilla.

Beast Wars told the story of transformers who crashed on planet Earth in pre-historic times, taking on forms of animals and dinosaurs, rather than vehicles and machinery. Popular ones included Cheetor, Rat-trap, Dinobot, Rhinox, Terrorsaur, and of course Megatron who took the form of a T-Rex. These toys definitely decorated my home as a child, and while the CGI show does not hold up today, the action figures definitely still do.

Directed by Steven Caple Jr., the movie’s cast will also feature Anthony Ramos (In the Heights), but very little else is known about the movie at this time.

2021 Release Schedule (July-December)

0

It is hard to believe that 2021 is half over, and we’re still not back into theaters fully to experience Super Hero or comic book based movies. Since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, whether you like it or not, we’ve yet to have a large tentpole film to take us away from the world’s current state. With the rollout of the global vaccine, movies are starting to make a come back (albeit with an at-home option for some), and here’s what you can look forward to the rest of the year!

1Black Widow – July 9, 2021

Black Widow 2021

The MCU returns with BLACK WIDOW, which appears to be a prequel to Avengers Endgame, but tell the story of Natasha Romanoff and her upbringing in the Red Room program. Introducing Yelena Belova, the Red Guardian, and Taskmaster to the universe at large, this film looks to kick off the official return to cinema. Black Widow is also available on Disney+ Premier Access.

2The Suicide Squad – August 6, 2021

The Suicide Squad 2021A soft reboot slash sequel to Suicide Squad, features James Gunn’s first foray into the DC Extended Universe. With some carry over from the original film (Harley Quinn, Rick Flagg, Amanda Waller, Captain Boomerang), The Suicide Squad goes a little wilder with its list of characters such as Bloodsport, Polkadot Man, Peacemaker, Ratcatcher 2, Weasel, The Thinker, and the Sylvester Stallone voiced Nanaue (King Shark). You can also catch The Suicide Squad with your HBO Max subscription.

3Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – September 3, 2021

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 2021Shang-Chi is the fourth MCU character to get an origin film without any previous acknowledgement in any other movie. With a title that covers the origins of Iron Man himself, the latest trailer features arm-band sized rings and connections to the Marvel world at large (Abomination and Wong). Expect a visual treat that explores the Eastern culture, as well as gives us the martial arts scenes we deserve in a comic book movie.

4Venom: Let There Be Carnage – September 24, 2021

Venom: Let There Be Carnage 2021Delayed from 2020, the sequel to the popular Venom movie will be making its way into theaters this Fall. Introducing Kletus Cassady to Eddie Brock, expect to see more alien symbiote action on a visceral level. Did we also spy Shriek in the trailer? Directed by Andy Serkis (Black Panther), this is shaping up to be a sequel that out does the original film.

5Eternals – November 5, 2021

Marvel's Eternals 2021Marvel’s latest cosmic offering introduces us to the numerous Eternals, long living powered beings that have been on Earth since almost the dawn of time. With direct connections to the Celestials, expect Ikaris, Sersei, Thena, and more to fight against their devilish relatives, the Deviants throughout the film. With more main cast members than ever before, this movie has a lot to prove and thousands of years to explore in the MCU.

6Spider-Man: No Way Home – December 17, 2021

Spider-Man No Way Home 2021We have seen the least, but probably know the most about the upcoming Spider-Man trilogy outing. With rumors that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be reprising their roles in a dimension-hopping story, hopes are higher than ever that this film will go all out on spectacle and surprises. Rumored villains to return include Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, and more (spoilers)! Our hope is the multiverse is used to its full extent and they pull no punches this time around.

THE SUICIDE SQUAD Trailer

0

THE SUICIDE SQUAD is the next big upcoming movie from DC and Warner Bros. Serving as a soft reboot/sequel to the previously released Suicide Squad, James Gunn’s take on the characters seems to be just as over the top as his Guardians of the Galaxy series (also mentioned in the trailer). Releasing in theaters and HBO Max on the same day, THE SUICIDE SQUAD is definitely shaping up to be the big win DC needs this year.

Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them. The film stars Margot Robbie (“Birds of Prey,” “Bombshell”), Idris Elba (“Avengers: Infinity War”), John Cena (upcoming HBO Max series “Peacemaker,” “Bumblebee”), Joel Kinnaman (“Suicide Squad”), Jai Courtney (the “Divergent” franchise), Peter Capaldi (“World War Z,” BBC’s “Doctor Who” ), David Dastmalchian (upcoming “Dune,” “Ant-Man and the Wasp”), Daniela Melchior (“Parque Mayer”), Michael Rooker (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films), Alice Braga (“Elysium”), Pete Davidson (“The King of Staten Island,” TV’s “Saturday Night Live”), Joaquín Cosio (“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” TV’s “Narcos: Mexico”), Juan Diego Botto (“The Europeans”), Storm Reid (“The Invisible Man,” “A Wrinkle in Time”, “Euphoria”), Nathan Fillion (“Guardians of the Galaxy,” TV’s “The Rookie”), Steve Agee (“Brightburn,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”), Sean Gunn (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, the “Avengers” films), Mayling Ng (“Wonder Woman”), Flula Borg (“Ralph Breaks the Internet”), Jennifer Holland (“Brightburn,” upcoming HBO Max series “Peacemaker”) and Tinashe Kajese (TV’s “Valor,” “The Inspectors”), with Sylvester Stallone (the “Rocky,” “Rambo” and “Expendables” franchises), and Viola Davis (“Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “Suicide Squad”).

Marvel’s ETERNALS Trailer

0

From Academy Award winner Chloe Zhao, Marvel’s The Eternals spans across eons of the Earth’s untold history in the MCU. Created by Jack Kirby, the Eternals consist of Ikaris, Sersi, Makkari, Thena, Phastos, Ajak, Kingo, Sprite, Gilgamesh, and Druig. These characters have ‘eternal’ life and similar cosmic abilities, with a special enhanced trait they’re known for.

Rounded out by a star studded cast of Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Angelina Jolie, Selma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, Bryan Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, and Barry Keoghan, Marvel is pushing these super powered individuals as the next big team. While not having the full comedic chops of say The Guardians of the Galaxy, THE ETERNALS definitely will have higher stakes as they live through millennia of disasters and advancements of the human race.

Expect to see appearances from larger than life Celestials, as well as the Black Knight played by Kit Harington as well.

The Eternals will be in cinemas November 5, 2021.

SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS Trailer

0

This year, SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS is slated to arrive in theaters, giving us a look at the mystical powers the MCU holds. Shang-Chi has trained his life to be a warrior, but when he wants out, his father, the powerful Mandarin, decides to make sure his family keeps their hold on the world.

SHANG-CHI looks to answers long held questions about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including who and what the Ten Rings are (Iron Man, 2008), the real identity and powers of The Mandarin (Iron Man 3, 2013), and sneak peeks at the Abomination (The Incredible Hulk, 2009) in a fight pit against what appears to be Wong (Doctor Strange, 2016).

Pack with mythos from the East, prepare to be enamored with lots of choreographed fighting, underwater Dragons, mythical beasts from cultures long past, and more.

SHANG-CHI and the LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS is in theaters September 3, 2021.

UPDATE: More Marvel Movie Date Changes

0

It feels like we recently reported the MCU would change their phase 4 lineup completely with new dates and here we are, reporting MORE Marvel movies have new dates. What is interesting about these, is that the dates previously occupied by Marvel/Disney releases, are now being shared with Sony’s Marvel movies.

First up is Venom 2, now titled Let There Be Carnage, has given up October of this year and is now hitting June 25, 2021. This slide is most likely due to post production and the increasing suspicion people may not flock to cinemas this fall.

This pushes Spider-Man 3 (a Sony/Marvel joint film) from July 2021 to November 5, 2021, giving us a full three course Sony Spider-Man property year when you include Venom and Morbius).

November 5 was originally held by Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, now confirmed to be directed by Sam Raimi, however, that film has been delayed to a brand new date, March 25, 2022. What does this placement in the MCU timeline mean for the good doctor remains to be seen.

Thor: Love and Thunder sees a good movement, in that it now opens one week earlier on February 11, 2022, just in time for Valentine’s Day weekend. Having Christian Bale in this movie has people hyped and getting a fourth Thor movie during his upswing is a great thing.

Lastly, the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel has been delayed from April 2022 to October 7, 2022. While we know very little about this movie, we do know that we loved the original and can’t wait to see where this goes.

While we go through very interesting times and see the effect on cinema production, I don’t expect this to be the last time we update the MCU’s slate or any other movie for that matter.

DC Delays Batman & Shazam 2; Moves up The Flash

0

With the state of cinema looking different each and every day, a lot of big tentpole releases are on pause for production and unlikely to make their original release date. Since Marvel has delayed every Phase 4 movie so far, Warner Bros. has done the same now with a few of their upcoming releases (save one).

The Batman has been pushed back from June 2021 to October 1, 2021. If the story is truly off the Long Halloween, this could be a fitting month for the Dark Knight’s return.

Shazam 2 has been pushed back 7 months, from April 2022 all the way to November 4, 2022. While this film is not in production at this time, I’m unsure why the huge delay. Will this allow space for Black Adam to appear in the film or something else?

Lastly, The Flash (if it ever gets made) has been bumped up a whole month to June 3, 2022. While this has had more director changes than any other non-existing movie we know of, it seems WB is intent on getting The Flash to the big screen.

Wonder Woman 84 was previously delayed in 2020 to August 13 from its original June date. Suicide Squad and Aquaman 2 are the only other movie not mentioned at this time to be delayed, but Suicide Squad seems to have been in post-production for a while now, with Aquaman 2 forever away.
