Disney Acquires Distribution Rights for Marvel

Disney owns Marvel. This has been true since 2009 and not one person would know the difference, despite public outcry at first. However, Disney did not get to distribute a Marvel Studios film until The Avengers in 2012, followed by Iron Man 3 this year. That is due to the prior agreement Paramount had with Marvel to distribute the Phase 1 films for Marvel, until Disney bought the rights away from them for Avengers and Iron Man 3 (despite Paramount’s logo on the films). However, Disney has announced today that they have acquired distribution right of 4 of the Phase 1 films, including Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America. The deal is described in a single sentence, [...]

Disney Dates Marvel Mystery Films

Disney has been hard at work planning out Marvel Studio’s future films. What we have are some Phase 3 release dates for undefined films for the upcoming few years. Starting off post Avengers 2 films is Ant-man on November 6, 2015. That is a pretty stellar choice to lead with a relative unknown Marvel hero for Phase 3. Hank Pym or Scott Lang or both! Either way, I expect us to see shrinking to very small sizes and hopefully lots of humor from Edgar Wright. From here, the path is less defined on super heroes, but more clear cut on when we can see some. The next three lined up as of today are: May 6, 2016; July 8, 2016; and May 5, 2017. To be fair, the May dates were announced [...]

First Trailer of Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.

Part of the Marvel cartoon block on Disney XD, we’ve come to love their take on Ultimate Spider-man and are anxiously looking forward to Avengers Assemble! However, there is a third part of the trifecta we’ve only heard about. I’m talking about┬áHulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., the third cartoon to soon be airing on Disney XD. Premiering on August 11, Hulk and his crew of other “hulks” including Red Hulk, She-Hulk, Skaar (son of Hulk) and A-bomb venture into the world, fighting off threats only the strongest there is can face. From the trailer, the action seems to be apparent as Hulk and Hulks do what they do best, SMASH. Check out the trailer below and [...]

Spider-man Films Confirmed for 2016 and 2018

Sony has announced today that they have schedule two more Spider-man films after Amazing 2. They’ve confirmed the dates as June 10, 2016 and May 4, 2018. These dates are rather peculiar, because of the inconsistent release months of the prior entries. Amazing SM 1 was July, ASM2 is April, and these two add on June and May? I’m not sure actual goal of these dates, nor if cinema traffic will really get along with them, but there is now confirmation that Spider-man will be filling the silver screen for the next 5 years. If they’re continuation of Andrew Garfield’s character is unknown as well, as there ┬ámay be side stories, due to the press release stating these [...]
